For those struggling with low supply like meI was using 24mm shields unaware that flanges made a difference. I started making colostrum 3 days after my baby was born, she was already on formula by then. I pumped and pumped to no avail barely making a few drops. A week later I was making 1 oz double pumping for 45 min. Everyday was a miserable time consuming pain with chapped nipples and a hungry baby crying. I read online extensively on what could help up my supply because I was never able to make more than 2 oz pumping for at least 90 min at a time. In a day I would make 4 oz . I tried lactation teas, lactation cookies, lactation consultants. Nothing worked and I was diagnosed with low supply. It didn t help that my husband and mother chose to ridicule me for still trying to breastfeed and would give my baby formula at the drop of hat. My last try was to order these flanges. I measured and turned out I needed 15mm flanges. I still have fairly low supply compared to what women on blogs have but my output has increased. My baby still has formula as well but not as much as she was having before. I feel relieved to be able to measure the amount of milk my body is able to produce and not give up on my breastfeeding journey with my baby5Get the correct sizing and you'll love these...After seeing many pictures of how a breastshield is supposed to fit, I thought I was supposed to get a larger size. Pictures are very misleading! Ladies, buy the breastshield according to the size of your nipples, not the size of your breasts or areola! I now wear a 38G (after giving birth to twins) and needed the smallest size breastshield available. I noticed my supply took a huge hit when I used breast shields larger than standard.. Then tried the smallest size (one size smaller than standard) and my supply over doubled. I went from 2-4oz a session to 6-8oz per pump session..These are very well made and work great, but will do you no good unless you get the correct size!! Also, for those of you pumping because your baby won't nurse- check out nipple shields!4Great suction and one piece is very convenientI wish I knew about these sooner. Having all the pieces in the original Medela pump parts is so annoying! Plus, having several pieces reduces the suction. I love having these because it s harder to forget parts when you re on the go because the main piece is all in one. Of course you still have to remember the yellow suction things and membranes. No breast pump part is easy to clean, and i would actually say they are a little harder to clean because you can t separate the pieces to clean. I use a pipe cleaner to get the hard to reach spaces in addition to a designated baby scrubber brush.Another pro to having the all in one MayMom set, is that there is a less chance of spilt milk. Sometimes when I had the original Medela parts, the middle part would separate from the flange (due to weight of milk) and milk container would fall to the floor! With this, I don t see that happening (it s all in one piece).Because they are in one piece, they do take up more room in storage. Again though, it s convenient because there are not several parts to put together.I ve already ordered my third set.4So much milk!!!!!A little background - my baby won't breastfeed. She is 1 month old. I had 6 nurses trying all the tricks, no one could get her to latch and feed. I am doomed to exclusively pump. With my first child (she did breastfeed just fine) I used the smallest size breastshield that Medela offers - 21mm. I mostly breastfed and it was a non-issue.So I am exclusively pumping and I have not been getting enough milk. 3, maybe 4 oz per pump. No way to get a stash like that! To top it off I am so so so sore, just chaffed and disheartened. I kept feeling as though I am not quite empty but no additional milk was coming. I decided to see if there were any smaller shields available since the Medela diagram of a "good fit" looked 100% nothing like my situation. Medela just doesn't offer many sizes and I came across this Maymom brand by chance. I figured it was worth a shot to at least reduce my discomfort if I can even continue to give my baby breastmilk. I just got 7 OUNCES!!!!!!!! on my first pump with these bad boys. It is AMAZING what a good fitting breastshield can do! I could cry I am so happy! To top it off they were quite a bit more comfortable, I really like the 1-piece style as I could always see air leaking in the Medela 2 piece style shields.Thank you to Maymom for making these shields in additional sizes. Women are all very different and those of us that need the smaller size shields should not have to literally suffer. So glad I found these!!TLDR - used this smaller size - totally comfortable, one piece style is great, got TWICE the milk on the first run with the 15mm.5THANK YOU FOR THIS PRODUCT!I am so so so soooooo happy I found this product! I don't know why Medela doesn't offer flanges this size... I didn't realize the 24mm I was trying to use was sooo wrong for me. I was only pumping mayybeee 1/2oz... Absolutely frustrating. I finally grabbed the ruler and measured only the nipple and sure enough 15mm. I figured why not, let's try... The next morning I pumped and when I finished, for the first time I was able to pump 9oz! That's a HUGE difference!! The incorrect flange size can really affect your pumping experience completely. Now I am able to pump for my little guy and not have to worry about giving up any time soon because I was thinking I just couldn't respond to pumping.5THANK YOUI was having pain pulling and couldn't find breastshields small enough for me. These have changed the game. I got the 15 mm. They have doubled my production and I'm no longer in pain. Thank you for a great product.P.S. I have a Spectra S1 so I had to get adaptors. It's an easy fix. Just a tiny little adapter tube.5How do I like it? The Tubing PlacementHere is my information that I want another breastfeeding exclusively or pumping exclusively Mother to know.Brand of pump I use: Hygeia Enjoye (billed to me by my insurance) Compatible with Hygeia Enjoye?Yes but this pack doesn t fit with their bottles. I would have to buy an adapter to fit their bottles or just buy Medela bottles to fit.I belong to several exclusively pumping/breastfeeding groups. So I was learning the world of breastfeeding products OUTSIDE of brand labels such Medela, Ameda, Lansinoh, Spectra..Maymom was mentioned several times as well Pumpin Pals.Upon receiving it, I was under the assumption that I was getting JUST the flange (the funnel part) of the cup, not the whole connector itself. How do I like it? The Tubing Placement: I like how the tubing placement is on top of this connected rather than the bottom as my original Hygeia pieces. Nipple size: 24MM (Medela or Hygeia) are rather too big for my fit. I like and dig the 19mm size. Good job Maymom! Original duckbills from Hygeia fit so this is a , good job Maymom!Other than the issue with them not fitting original Hygeia bottles unless you buy an adapter, I like this product. I would definitely choose the 19mm Maymom flanges over the recently (March 04 2018) purchased 21mm Medela flanges.5It s good for the moneyFive starts because it came in great shape. But I didn t get to use it because of a few challenges Well it came sealed and looks new. my areola is still being blocked off so I probably need to get a larger size. Feeling helpless honestly. There re two holes in it. I literally had to block them off with my fingers to fed the suction but I honestly think that I bought the wrong one cause I have an electronic pump. If someone can assist me that will be great.I m the photos I ll show you what I ordered and the type I have. Please not that the actual pump set is mine and I didn t purchase it on amazonOriginally my pump set came with the medium piece but as I said it didn t fit mePlease help5Thank God for the Smaller Sizes!I want to thank the founding dads of Maymom for recognizing that women's nipples come in wider ranges of shapes and sizes. The smallest flange size Medela has is 21mm. My bra size was 32A pre-pregnancy and now it is 32B (sometimes 32C) while breastfeeding. I thought my nipples were average for my breast size, but apparently I needed an X-Small flange. I ordered two sets of 15mm and my milk output has increased and pumping is so much more comfortable! Many pumping moms don't know that you should actually go down in flange sizes to reduce discomfort and increase milk output. I learned this from my lactation consultant, but not all lactation consultants know to give this advice. Always err on the smaller flange size. I guarantee you'll notice a difference! Almost every woman has to go down a size or sizes as she continues pumping because the elasticity of your nipple changes.I like that Maymom breast flanges come in one piece so you never have to worry about the connector coming loose during your pump session and milk spilling everywhere! I don't have any problems cleaning the one piece. I use mild dish soap and let super hot water run through it. I use the brush that's included with the flanges for a deeper clean. I have a Papablic sterilizer so I pop the flanges in the bottom compartment and the valves in the upper compartment. It's really nice that the pack comes with extra valves and membranes. It's a good value. It's a pain to get these flanges in the Medela hands-free pumping bra as you have to back it in, but if you have the Simple Wishes bra, it makes getting these guys in a lot easier!! The Simple Wishes pumping bra is a MUST HAVE to go along with the Maymom flanges.5Sizing matters! and you can use HSA dollars for this purchase!I pumped three times every day at work until my son's first birthday (phew - so glad it's over!).I bought this replacement when I noticed that I wasn't pumping as much. I must admit, every day was a struggle - my son wouldn't drink formula and I constantly worried whether I would be able to pump enough for my son. I wasn't sure whether to buy this since it wasn't guaranteed to be the solution to a decrease in supply, but it was worth a shot. Luckily, getting the correct size definitely helped with the efficiency of the pump. I also recommend switching out the other parts periodically. Remember, you could write off these breastfeeding supplies on your tax return or use your HSA dollars to make these purchases!5
