Customer Reviews

Seems to work well, but clicking sound is noticeableI installed this with an new iSpring RCC7AK 6-Stage filter system. Unfortunately, I'm not too sure this does what it's suppose to do well. I don't know how my water filter system performed prior to installing this because I installed it all new at the same time. Although I don't have any reason to believe it does not work well. For me, docking off one star is for the "clicking" sound, as it fills the water tank reservoir.. Luckily the iSpring tank isn't as big others on the market, so it doesn't take as long to fill... From the reviews I knew prior to buying, but didn't know it would be as loud as it is. My whole house is an open design, and you can hear this clear across the room. But my wife and I can tolerate it. Future revisions would have to address this. 4Must have - regardless of water pressure!!!This was a great addition to my RO system!I have Apec RO-90, and have used the pump for 1 year already. Notice that the pump always helps to have higher tank pressure as well as to save water that is rejected. The clicking sound provides a nice comforting indication for when the water is flowing through the system. Actually, when the filters become clogged up, one can hear that the clicking becomes sluggish, and delayed from when the water was poured. So it's a great filter status indicator too! Just listen to the clicking when the filters are new, and then closer to when they need to be replaced. I was puzzled why pumping became delayed in time, and when I pulled out my filters I saw why - they were full of rust! With new filters, it's pumping again right after I pour some water. The slight challenge is how to attach the pump to the RO system. I bought "Big Simple Clip Clamp 2.5" Bracket Reverse Osmosis Ro Membrane Housing" on eBay (3 of these for $3 - see the attached picture), and then M5 -0.8 Nylon Lock Nuts and M5-0.8 x 16 mm machine screws at Home Depot. After drilling a hole in the pump bracket, I screwed together the 2.5" Clamp with the pump bracket, and then snapped it on the carbon after-filter of the RO system (the thin one that sits on top of the RO membrane). The 2.5" clamp is slightly loose, but it holds OK, and will be handy when I pull the RO-90 system out to replace filters.Overall, I saved about $50 on buying the pump separately, vs getting RO-90 with the pump already included. Of course, a bit of handywork was required, and some additional tubes. Notice that RO-90 has plenty of spare length in the provided tubing, so if the system sits near the water source, some of this RO tubing can be cut and used for connecting the pump. 5It REALLY works-proofs in the bucket!Added to our water filter system, mostly to decrease wash/waste water (brine). Supposed to also help membrane work better.Noise seems the most negative comment but its really not that loud, so relieved. Plus it is not like it runs all the time.Install was simple, picked up a bag of stem 90 ells, made routing lines easier. Same time I added flush valve and kept the ASO valve, which is supposed to help with TDS creep.Did note slight increase pressure at faucet but it was already pretty good.Ive been measuring drain water, (my waste is plumbed outside to capture for yard use) so knowing what was used to make clear water and comparing to amount used with premeate pump is the test. Still measuring so that point to be 5th star if performs better than expected.UPDATE..and 5 stars- prior to installing premeate pump, using a little over a gallon of water, causing filter system to start, used about 24 quarts of waste before it shut down, 24 quarts. Just finished drawing approximately a gallon (same daily task that triggers system-not the amount of clean water used), system shut down in about half the time, waste drain bucket is at exactly 8 quarts. That is ONE THIRD the waste for same amount of water- stoked!Margaret was filling coffee pot and started to walk away but noticed how fast pot was filling, I was judging by stream which appeared only slightly greater. WOW, greater pressure/flow at faucet, half the recoup time at half the waste (brine) water which was all I wanted. Unbelievable. 5It does what it s supposed to, cuts down on water usage!I bought this after I realized my ASO was never shutting off and my RO water production had slowed down dramatically over the winter months as the incoming water temps dipped into the 40s. At first I used it in conjunction with the ASO to keep it from turning on every time I filled something, but I noticed that the ASO was turning on every time I filled a glass anyway, so I ended up just removing that and gaining full city pressure in my RO tank which was great cuz we were managing to run the tank out pretty easily. I took a bicycle pump and pumped the storage tank up to 40 PSI and now get plenty of water to cook, make coffee, and fill the hot water machine all in a pretty short time period. We just went through the holidays without running out of water once. Without the permeate pump I would be wasting a lot of water and wouldn t be getting as much out of my RO system, so I don t see why anyone shouldn t get this to go in conjunction with their RO system. With all that said it does make some noise, I ended up wrapping a wash cloth around it and made sure the drain tube is tight and not touching anything, the noise is still noticeable but nothing we haven t gotten used to and don t really notice. Plus to me it s worth it having the RO system operate much more efficiently and quickly. They do make a version that s supposed to be quieter but it wasn t big enough for my RO system. 5Increased the flow and pressure of my RO system (I'm on a water well).I live on a farm on a water well with a 30 to 50 PSI pressure switch. I have a Watts 5 stage RO system and the flow and pressure out of it is horrible. Even after all night, it is still little more then a strong trickle in the morning. The pressure out my frige is even worse. It takes minutes to fill up a 16 ounce glass of water. At least that was the way it was before I got this pump. This pump is amazing! When I first got this thing, I really had no idea how it worked. I had just ordered a pressure pump for my OR system. When I hooked it up, I was like, "This thing is not going to work". After a while though the water pressure got better and I was like "Hummm... Maybe it will work. The next morning I was blown away! The flow out of my RO system a great. I would even say better then my mom's Culligan system in town on city water. This thing really works. I don't know how it does it what it does, but it does it. Who ever invented this thing is a genius. Thanks, whoever you are. 5This thing really works.Recently I have been piping my brine water to a 5 gallon bucket to recycle for back yard plants. I have realized that how much water has been wasting all this time. For example, when the water tank is full, I would fill up two 25oz water bottle. The waste water generated fills up my 5 gallon bucket and another 1/4 after that. So, I decided to give this Permeate Pump a try. Just installed it tonight and tried the same thing. The waste water was reduced to less than 1/4 bucket. Wow, this thing really works. For people who lives in state of California where water is so precious, I am surprise why hasn't the water department rolls out this unit for owners of reverse osmosis system. 5Fixed ice maker problems!!!!!!!!So far it is OK. Will update with longevity as soon as I know. Had 2 ice maker on a 90 gpd reverse osmosis. The 2001 sears would not work on low pressure. Pressure would drop to about 20 PSI. Installed this WITH the hydraulic valve still in place and fill time to tank was improved and maybe top end pressure, but ice maker still freezes up due to low flow. Called my reverse osmosis company and they wanted to sell me the electric pump. I decided to try with hydraulic valve removed and that allowed my bottom pressure to remain high...about 40 PSI I think. Problem solved with no electricity. Hope this info helps someone. This pump saved the day. Hope it lasts a while. 5LOUD!!! But does the job. This pump does the job on my RO filter system. After installing my system I had low pressure in my fridge line, which was run from my basement about 15 feet across and up. I went from filling a water glass in 10 seconds to about 45 seconds. After installing this pump I can now fill that cup in about 10-15 seconds, almost as good as before. Keep in mind this pump isn't for increasing water pressure technically, but it did for me. I also notice much less waste water, easily half as much as before, which will save my water bill. With all that said there is a major downer, this thing is LOUD and it clicks on and off almost constantly when the water tank needs to refill. I have this in my basement and I hear it all the way to my 2nd floor! It's so loud I've considered returning it and just eating the water cost and lower water pressure. I do have plans to maybe enclose it somehow, I don't think it will overheat because it's passive, and has water running through it also, hopefully I can get the noise levels down. 3Awesome addition to an RO systemI purchased this as an add on for my reverse osmosis system at my cabin. Wow!! What a difference in pressure at the faucet. The tank recharges quicker too, especially if you have well water (lower pressure and colder temperature than "ideal" installations, specified by the RO manufacturer). To those reviewers that said it is noisy... okay, yeah, it clicks a bit (you know it's working that way), but it's really not loud. I don't know how they mounted it to have it be that loud and distracting. Mine is mounted on the RO system in the basement under the sink and I can't hear anything unless I am near it in the basement.Anyway, it's a perfect addition to an RO system. I will be buying another for my house. Hint, it is cheaper to buy it from Amazon than the reverse osmosis vendor, and it's the exact SAME thing! Only caveats: 1) it comes with generic instructions (so you may want to get install instructions for your specific RO system), and 2) if you don't have it, you'll probably need $1-$3 worth of 1/4" plastic tubing from your hardware store. Well worth it to me, so I say just buy it! 5Works as advertisedAdding this permeate pump to my under sink reverse-osmosis system (APEC Top Tier Alkaline Mineral pH+ 75 GPD 6-Stage Ultra Safe Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Filter System (ESSENCE ROES-PH75)) has helped immensely with improving the efficiency and recovery time of the system. It has been working great for the past year and, if I were to voice a complaint, it would be the slight "ticking" noise it makes as it cycles. It's normal for the pump to make that noise, and I could probably isolate the pump better from the rest of the system and surrounding cabinet to reduce the noise being amplified by vibration, but it just hasn't been too big a deal. I was concerned that the variable pressure from my well water would be an issue, but it turned out to not be a problem. Even using the stock auto shutoff valve that came with my RO system (which limits the system to about 70% of the incoming water pressure), I get plenty of pressure for a drinking water faucet and to feed the ice maker and water dispenser on my refrigerator. 4
