A must for transitioning from swaddlesAs a mother of 4 month old twins sleep is hard to come by. I needed something to help transition from the swaddle and help with this hideous 4 month sleep regression.Using this my daughter has been able to fall asleep when put down in her crib instead of in my arms. The first couple of nights it made a minor difference in sleep, night 3 we got a solid 7 hours before she woke up, night 4 we were up to 8 hours. So far this seems to be doing the trick and I wish we d had tried this sooner instead of fighting sleepless nights. This is padded but doesn t seem to overheat, we place this over a vest and a sleep suit while keeping the room around 65F. I would think if your child runs warmer to skip one of the layers. 5Like most parents we were looking for anything to help ...Like most parents we were looking for anything to help our baby sleep. The sleep suit came highly recommended by my dentist. The first time we used it we thought it was a bust. But after we started also training and realized he was scratching at his eczema at night we have this another try and now it is or go to for night sleep. He can play with his hands if he's fully awake. Unfortunately its too cumbersome for him to suck on his hands. Maybe he will eventually be able to do this, I don't know. We use this and a onesie in a 68F room and he seems happy. The only downside is that it takes a long time to dry so if he blows out in it we can't use it for naps! He also has gotten into the habit of chewing the area near his mouth which can get kind of gross when you think about it...Edit: baby is now 6 months old and we are thinking of weaning him off the sleep suit. The first time we napped him in a regular sleep sack, it took him a long time to fall asleep and he didn't sleep very long. Consider whether you want to deal with yet one more decide to wean your child off if you choose to go this route. We are going to try to wean him slowly by letting the sides out a little at a time and removing the stuffing a little at a time. It takes a little tailoring skills and care but we couldn't think of another gradual approach. 4for parents of a 5+ month oldThis is literally the first review I ve ever left on an Amazon purchase but I thought it was necessary because I was looking for a review like this when I was shopping and it was hard to find.My daughter just turned five months old and has been swaddled since she was six weeks old (& the first night I ever swaddled her was the first time she ever slept through the night & has been sleeping the night ever since) I was terrified of the idea of having to transition out of swaddling but knew the day would come. When she turned four months old she started getting the strength to bring her arms up through the halo sleep sack into her face waking herself up/scratching herself/putting her hands in her mouth which made her start babbling away at wee hours of the night. I decided to try swaddling with one arm out to see how it would go and occasionally it would work but most of the time she would wake up in less than an hour from touching her face with the free hand. So I continued to wrap her in the halo sleep sack, but just did it tighter than ever..& it kept working..till it didnt. She would fall asleep great but would move her arms up after an hour or so & would get frustrated trying to free her arms (even started arching her back which mad her roll to her side..I knew it was getting too dangerous to keep it up.I purchased things like the love to dream sleep sack , the woombie , & the nested bean zen sack. (all of which i heard great things about)..but they didnt work for her.The love to dream sleep sack allowed her to have her hands up which she had never slept like before so she was flapping like crazy trying to escape it. The woombie was good for a couple nights but she woke up to the fact that she could bring her hands up to her chest freely but then not extend her arms so she was constantly crying out of frustration. The nested bean zen sack was supposed to mimic touch by having a weight on the chest but the weight is light as a feather so it was like she wasnt in a sack at all. I didnt know what to do.I decided to search the web ONE MORE TIME & came across this magic suit ..yea ok I bet it wont work for her..but I bought it & decided to try it out. When it came in the mail yesterday I thought it looked rediculous...but that s what all the other reviews had said..and even though it looked ridiculous..it still somehow did the trick. So when it was time for her nap I gave it a shot. IT WORKED! She slept and hour & 1/2..which she never does for a nap! (she ll only sleep that long being held or on my husbands chest!)* I also feel that it s important to mention that prior to trying this out we would always wrap her up in the halo sleep sack first and then rock her to sleep in our arms or on our knees on the Boppy pillow- and she would always already be asleep before I transferred her to the crib.So I knew that that with this suit I had to kill two birds with one stone: not only transition her out of the swaddle, but also have her fall sleep on her own in the crib. I waited until she was already tired, even fussing a bit..put her in the suit while it was lying in the crib, and walked away. She started crying ( naturally because this was the first time she was ever awake in her crib without a swaddle) I reassured her after 2 minutes of crying & 2 minutes later..she was asleep! On her own! Without a swaddle! Arms free to move about!I thought maybe it was just a fluke and it was just because she was so tired..so I knew the real test would be at night. Here I am at 7am writing this review..while shes still ASLEEP! We put her to bed at 9pm (going to try earlier tonight) & shes still out. She usually wakes up at 6 or 6:30.I ll be honest I did have to go in her room and put her pacifier back in her mouth around 5 AM because she was moaning in her sleep, but I think she was just having a bad dream, I don t think it has anything to do with the suit. I also watched her several times on the monitor throughout the late-night hours bring her hands to her face to rub her eyes..but her arms always settle back down slowly and she fell back asleep. That would not have been possible with traditional swaddles or with having her arms completely free with armless sleep sacks. I would say give it a try even if you re skeptical that your baby is already older and even if you tried other things and they have failed ESPECIALLY if that s the case, try this suit out ! 5Not magic...but pretty close! There are so many products out there to help with baby sleep, and it s so hard to know what will work for YOUR child. So I was skeptical about this product, but was surprised and very pleased with the results! My baby at 2 months was already a good sleeper, the problem was she only wanted to sleep in the Rock n Play. I heard a lot of moms used this suit to help with the transition to the crib, and it definitely helped us too! I still have to rock or feed baby to sleep, but she stays asleep once I put her down. Wish I would have had this with our first who would only sleep if we held her. The only downside is having to figure out how to dress baby since the suit is thick and therefore warmer than most sleepers. 5The cotton one is too warmI guess I m one of the unfortunate buyers who this product didn t work for. My baby is already very hot and sweats a lot, so I thought to buy the cotton sleepsuit. I noticed that despite the fabric being cotton, the sleepsuit was very warm and heavily insulated. So I cranked up the AC and the ceiling fan. Still made no real difference in his sleeping. It was just too much effort to get him to adjust to the sleepsuit (temp wise) and I didn t notice any changes in his sleep. 1Amazing! Great for transitioning from the rock n' play to the crib! This sleep suit saved us! I'm so happy that my cousin told me about baby Merlin! My son slept in his rock n' play for the first two months of his life. It was the only way we could get a decent sleep out of him. When we transitioned him to his crib at 2 months old he would wake up more than he did the first two weeks of his life. We eventually gave up and brought him back in our room with the rock n' play. We just needed sleep! When he turned 3 months old we desperately gave the magic sleep suit a shot and he slept 10 hrs straight...in his crib! He has slept through the night every night in his crib for the last 3 weeks (8+ hours a night). We can even put him in his crib awake, and as long as he's in his sleep suit he can fall asleep on his own. This would've never happened before the sleep suit! I never write reviews but this product saved us and now I tell every new mom about this! Our favorite baby product by far! 5SAFETY CONCERN- Baby broke out of suit and put over face Caution: our 5 month old wiggled herself out of this and put it over her face. See pictures. She started at the top of crib, zipped up tight. She got herself out of suit, and put over her face. She is 12 pounds, 22 inches long. Use with caution. 1Truly magical suit!!!!Wow! Truly magical!! This suit is amazing! My baby has reflux and hated her crib! Slept in a rock in play, she is just now 7 months old. I knew we needed to transition her to the crib. But a normal sleep sack was not working and she would fuss and only sleep for like 20 mins at a time. We put this on her and she slept all night!! It s been 5 days and still sleeps great!! I was worried we where 2 late in the game to try this, but the large size fits great with room to grow!! I highly recommend this!! My husband and I are still in Awww over this! Wish this was around for our first child 5Worked for us, finally sleep! This suit was a God-send to two tired and defeated first time parents. It may not work for everyone, but it worked for our baby and for that reason, I am giving this product 5 stars. I do have a few small complaints though and they are, 1: There are only two sizes and my baby is in the 99th percentile for height, she is quickly outgrowing the large and I need another! 2: When drying the suit I have to run it through two cycles, one for the outside, then turned inside out to dry the inside. 3: I wish the zipper situation was set up differently to make diaper changes more quick and convenient. If I need to change my baby s diaper while she s in this suit it completely wakes her up because I have to move her around so much to get to it. All in all though, those are small prices to pay for a product that grants you the most precious commodity a weary new parent is yearning for: sleep. 5This product is AMAZING!!!I can t get over how great this sleeper is! My little guys is 4 months old. Everytime I would get him to sleep and lay him down he would jerk himself awake. I heard about this sleeper on Pinterest so figured I would try it. I put him in to a few times to get use to it.Night one he slept from 8:30 to 2:30 ate and back to sleepNight two from 8:30 to 4:30 ate and back to sleepAnd last night the whole night I m so glad I gave this a try! 5
