Please Read! 4 month use review! So I've had this vacuum for 4 months now and feel I can give a pretty accurate review. Just so you understand our household we have two kids under the age of 5 and a medium sized dog that sheds a lot. I run the vacuum at least two to three times a week from heavy fur shedding and heavy crumbs and dirt being tracked in. Our home is a single floor, and it's all hardwoods and tile except for two bedrooms.I was happy to receive this vacuum, the suction power is great, maneuverability is great and the body section follows you easily. It's not too heavy to drag along and overall is not too annoying. The plug retractor is AMAZING, no more cord winding. I also like the buttons that you can press with your foot.Let me break it down to the different heads that it comes with. The hard floor specific head has good suction and picks up the dog fur and small crumbs but if you have kids that like to throw Cheerios and all sorts of large crumbs on the floor this head just pushes those around. I actually have to lift it and set it down right on the large crumb for it to suck them up, that gets labor intensive. General use is okay, but not super happy that it doesn't suck up the larger crumbs better.I actually have found the other head to be more useful. That one will split between hard floor and carpeting. We have relatively low-pile carpet in only two bedrooms and I have about 4 rugs varying in size. This one does really good on the hardwoods especially picking up the fur since the brushes come out on the hardwood setting. The larger crumbs get picked up pretty well, not 100% of the time, but good enough for me. I can actually vacuum all the rugs, and carpeting in the two bedrooms well! I don't notice a whole lot of dog fur or tracked in dirt or crumbs after a once over. The reusable filter is nice I've already rinsed it out once because I had to pick up a good amount of dirt and it got caught up in the filter. Seems like it's a hard-working filter and I'm happy about that.My complaints are the collars that are around the tubing. They are this cheap crappy plastic that has broken off into multiple pieces and are now just gone. That cheap aspect worries me about the rest of the plastic parts because let's be honest when you vacuum you bump into things pretty often. Even if your a slow careful vacuuming person you still bump into stuff. I'm not sure how long the heads will last or the handle.Overall my four star review is because I'm not sure this will last as many years as our last vacuum did, or last over a year. The usability is great but I would also like to have longevity. 4Exceptional!With a combination of carpet and ceramic tile floors an upright just doesn't hack it all the time. This is the first non-upright we have owned in a long time. The last was a monster that was a real pain till we just gave up. This vacuum is very compact, light weight with ample attachments for any use. It comes with an upholstery brush, a crevice tool, a hard floor head along with a carpet head with rotating brushes. One big advantage this has over an upright is in the articulating wand, it goes almost flat against the floor, allowing easy peazy cleaning under the bed and other close to the floor furniture. The suction is superior! I did notice that on carpet it is a tad hard to push the head back and forth because of the suction strength---I find that to be a good thing.Emptying the canister is rather straight forward and simple, and it will pick up more that I would imagine, doing a great job on both carpet and the hard surface floors. Another great feature is the self retracting cord, just one push of the button and away it goes! The footprint is rather small compared to other units I have seen, allowing for easy storage. A handle at the user end of the wand is very comfortable during use. This is a well made sturdy unit, the wand is solid, easy to extend and retract. It would be hard to expect more from a vacuum than this! Extremely pleased, I would recommend the Bissell Hard Floor Expert to anyone!NOTE: In my review I noted that it was a tad difficult to push the head on the carpet. There was a reason, I was using the rotating brush head----that was designed for use on the bare floors not carpet. I replaced with the correct head and the thing pushes smooth as silk-----oh, dumb me! 5Do NOT buy this vacuum cleaner if you have ANY ...Do NOT buy this vacuum cleaner if you have ANY pets. (I have two dogs.) Mine stopped functioning correctly the first time I used it--the sweepers inside the part that goes over the floor stopped twirling. I thought, "I just overwhelmed it," pulled out the fur, and then started to sweep the floor with a broom each time before I vacuumed. (Sort of why I got a vacuum, so I didn't HAVE to sweep, but whatever.)I never did get the sweepers to twirl again because, although I tried to pick out all the dog fur, they were hopelessly clogged. As a result, there is very little sucking function. I just move it back and forth across the floor, fruitlessly.I am kicking this machine to the curb. I guess I'll buy a new broom. 1Did my research on the best vacuum for hard wood/vinyl floors and this is what ...Did my research on the best vacuum for hard wood/vinyl floors and this is what I ended up with. Absolutely LOVE it! The suction on it is amazing. Picks up just about everything from dog hair to dirt. Easy to use and store away! Highly recommend this vacuum! 5Meh. No suction control/airflow regulator even though manual says soThe User Guide says there is an airflow regulator. There is NOT. Hugely disappointed. On some hard surfaces, the suction is almost too much, so having a regulator would make it easier. Forget about using attachments on delicate items without the control. Agree with the others who say the large back wheels don't move much. I feel like I'm pulling this around vs rolling it. On board tools don't attach securely and fall off. Wish it were possible to store the other floor attachment on board. The carpet/multifloor head is not great but 90%+ of my floors are hardwoods. I'm repairing my old upright with beater bar and keeping it for the rugs. Not thrilled with this purchase, despite doing research. 3Easy to empty the canister over a trash binI'm seriously loving this vacuum! I'm a neiltech who was tired of spending my life sweeping and dusting my salon suite. This little compact gem really picks up glitter and acrylic/gel dust in nothing flat! It's actually quite quiet too! The on board tools allow me to vacuum polish racks, blinds, recessed drawer handles, baseboards etc. Easy to empty the canister over a trash bin. Filters are washable/reusable. 5So versatile, so powerful.Loving this vacuum for my hard floors. The suction on this is ridiculously powerful and SOOO quiet compared to my previous brand. The only carpet in my home are door and bathroom mats - the attachment used for carpet does great. Even witg the carpet attachment, suction is strong; however, I am able to make the few swipes needed to get the carpets and couches clean. The main swivel head is great. It's definitely not bulky so I am able to get under dressers, behind toilets, all the little places that a normal vacuum cannot reach. I love that I can remove the attachments and use just the hose. I definitely recommend. Would buy again. 5Great for laminate floors.Just moved to a new house and needed a new vacuum for a house with laminate floors. Have a Dyson upright and it was too heavy and not that great in picking up small particles on laminate floors. After much anguish and reading so many reviews, settled on this vacuum. I am 95% satisfied.Pros-Quieter than my upright Dyson. Can vacuum at night and not wake up the kids.-Great in picking up small particulate matter and dust. The vaccuum head has a roll that spins when it is in contact with the floor. It does not use a belt but spins passively due to the suction with the ground.-love the cord retraction functionality. Completely awesome.-much lighter than the Dyson-Can choose between 2 vacuum heads and also has 2 small accessory attachments.Cons-it has less overall suction than the Dyson, but yet it worked better on the laminate.-just decent on low pile rug. Would not use this on carpet.-not very compact in storage. See photo.Neutral-cord length is fine in my opinion. Not as long as Dyson, but it's ok.----------///-----------/-/-------Update 6/2016It's been about two months.I forgot to add a few pros- great in picking things up close to the wall.- easy to take off canister, easy to empty, and easy to put back on.- like the easily adjustable length stickCons-- not so easy to vaccuum stairs.- a plastic piece which surrounds the hose to the handle broke. It's function was to prevent kinking of the hose at the handle. So far it has not been a problem as the hose is pretty sturdy and doesn't kink even without it, however, kind of suprised it broke after 2 months.- haven't really found a use for the 2 hose attachments. 5SuperbExcellent product! The vacuum picks up ALL the dust, cat hair and litter. We just moved into a one story home with all engineered hard wood floors. No carpet. So before we moved I did a great deal of research on vacuums specifically for hard wood floors. This vacuum continually came up as a wonder. I absolutely agree. The suction is amazingly by. The brush bristles are as soft as a baby s hair brush! Extremely easy to access and empty the dirt cup. I love the retractable cord!! And the hose detaches from the handle in a flash to pick up a small area. Love that! My back and hips are a train wreck so when I say it is easy to use I really mean it. I do have to say that the only con is that it s a little hard to pull/roll. That could be be partially because our floors are not smooth. However that s another plus since the floors are uneven and the farmhouse style. If you re looking for an excellent hard wood floor vacuum, I don t believe you can do any better than this Bissel. 5At first I loved it. It really had excellent suction and did ...At first I loved it. It really had excellent suction and did an amazing job. I have had it a few months and I'm ready to throw it in the trash. It will not maintain suction. I keep emptying the canister, cleaning filters, over and over and it will not maintain the highest level of suction, keeps kicking back down to a lower lever. Very frustrated. 2
