Customer Reviews

Really nice. Works great. Better than our Mr. Coffee machine.Really nice. Replaced our 10 cup Mr. Coffee. I'm the only coffee drinker in the house, and when I made coffee in the Mr. Coffee with just one scoop in the filter, the filter often collapsed, making coffee grounds bypass the filter. I had had enough of chewy coffee, and decided to find something different. I searched for single cup coffee machines, and found generally good reviews for this one. Reviews in general seem to be mixed for most coffee makers. This one makes better coffee than the Mr. Coffee, using only one scoop, probably because of the shape of the stainless steel filter that lets the coffee trickle though the coffee longer. My only complaint is that I can't fit my own travel mug in it. Instead, I need to use the included travel mug, and then pour the coffee into my mug. Not a big deal overall. The included coffee mug is OK quality, and seals nicely, if I wanted to use it instead. If it was high enough to use my own travel mug, I certainly would have given it 5 stars. 4Simple, economical one cup at a timeThis is a great product for those who want a single cup of coffee without the expense of the K-cups. It has a permanent mesh filter so you can use your own coffee. It is lightweight and ultra simple to operate. Just fill with water, put 1/4 cup of coffee in the basket and press the single lever/button. It lights up when brewing and turns off automatically. You can use the included cup or your own, as long as it is less than about 5 1/2 inches tall. It's a no-fuss, simple device, nearly foolproof. Some may want to add a paper filter if they use a very fine grind of coffee, but for most, it isn't necessary, just a simple rinse in the sink after dumping the used grounds in the trash (or compost). The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because I haven't had it long, and the construction seems a little flimsy, so I'm not sure how long it'll hold up. 4This thing is great in concept but badly executedThis thing is great in concept but badly executed. The shape of the tank makes it hard to pour water into without spilling if you use a large mouth mug like i do. It's not that i can't pour, it's simple shaped badly for the sake of "style." My mother owned previous models of the Black and Decker cup-at-a-time brewer and those things lasted years before needing replacement. This brings me to my current predicament. About a month ago it stopped brewing all of the water in the tank. Last week, when you press the button down it no longer "turns on" the boiling cycle. You can, however, hold the button down for 2-3 minutes to boil the water if you are not busy. I purchased this in January 2016 and it failed July 28th 2016. I attempted a warranty repair which was approved, but required a $7.50 check or money order for a replacement - almost half of what a new one costs. If this item failed after 2 years i wouldn't have blinked twice, but 6 months is a little ridiculous. I am looking into other products by other manufacturers. I would suggest you do the same unless you need something that kind of works most of the time for 20 bucks. The down side is if you get a bad one, you have to pay almost 50% of the cost of the original item to get a replacement. 2so useful!I want decaf coffee, but my husband can't live with caffeinated coffee. This lets us quickly make both kinds, and keeps us both happy! It's very easy to use and clean, and the coffee is hot and tasty. The travel cup is an awesome option, but you can use any mug, and I love not having to clean a pot each time. I also like being able to put the flavor syrup in the mug first before brewing, then just stir and drink! We're using a scoop and a half, with the size 1 filters, and they're fine, but the size 2 filters might be better, because the size 1 is just exactly the size, and sometimes the coffee gets over the paper filter edge onto the permanent filter. The permanent filter works fine, but yes, there will be some debris that makes it through. I don't notice it at all until/unless I drink the very last sip, so, it doesn't matter much to me.We've been using this with the Ghirardelli flavored syrups, and we realy like the caramel and the white chocolate, tastes a lot like Starbucks http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007HRPXZG/ref=oh_details_o01_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1My husband also uses Torani Hazelnut Syrup, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PC47WK/ref=oh_details_o05_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1, and he really likes that too. 5Good price, good cup of coffee.Got this last night (USPS delivers late in my neighborhood).First cup tastes like my normal coffee. I usually brew freshly ground coffee through a stainless filter. I didn't like having to wait for the water to heat, then stand there and pour a little hot water at a time through the grounds. This seems to do the same job, but I can load it and go do something else for a while. Just what I needed. 5Coffeemaker: Good! But, cup: Not So GoodThis is my second Brew 'n Go Personal Coffee Maker. The first one was still functioning after at least ten years of use. I just bought a new one because the old one was looking too a bit too "grody" for me to easily clean. I love the unit itself and the quality of the coffee produced. Although the unit comes with a filter basket, I use Melitta #2 filters for easy clean-up. The mug that accompanied the coffee maker--well that's a different story. I don't like it at all. I am using it simply because I hate to waste things. But, it's unsteady and won't stand by itself when there is no or little liquid. It's not airtight (like some of my other travel cups). I definitely recommend the coffeemaker. I took one star off the review because of the quality of the mug (I opted for the coffeemaker with the cheapest price--with this tan cup--it is indeed an ugly color). 4A brew-tastic little workhorseI bought this coffee maker from Amazon two years ago, and it's been a serious little workhorse ever since. I consider it one of my Amazon treasures. Yes, it's entirely made of plastic. Still, it takes up very little space, brews strong, bold, rich coffee, and cleaning it is a breeze (no coffee filter needed). Did I mention it brews a great cup of coffee!! That's a must for me. Yes, I do get a little overeager with the amount of coffee grounds I put in (it's got to be strong!! coffee), which causes some of the grounds to splurt around the inside of the coffee maker. Still, just swish it under a little running water, and all is well. I've taken this compact little gem to hotels and retreat centers, because it's quite portable, and provides incredibly superior coffee. There was only one thing I didn't like - though I still give the Brew 'n Go five stars. I ditched the plastic thermal cup - smelled odd and negatively impacted the coffee experience. I have a stainless steel pitcher that fits perfectly and works great. I'll be buying another Brew 'n Go if I finally wear out the one I have. 5Excellent product for the moneyWhat a great coffee machine at such a low cost! It's easy to use, easy to clean, works quickly and - most importantly - makes really good coffee. I have spent so much money on coffee and machines in my life, and I finally decided to lower the bar, buy something cheap and deal with the lower quality if necessary. But with this machine I don't have to, and I'm not even using gourmet coffee. Yes, there are a few glitches like the other reviews said, but the machine cost $15!! So I'm not complaining. I don't use the plastic mug because it has a funny smell. I just use a ceramic mug that holds 16 ounces, then dump the coffee into a travel mug if I'm not drinking it at home. The coffee is hot, but not really hot, so it's good to drink it soon after you make it unless you're putting into a thermos. Highly recommended! 5Great for Single CupThis is my second one of these, the first was ruined by hard water. Not much I can do about that! If yours shuts off before all the water is pumped out, give it a white vinegar bath. I did that several times over the life of the old one and it fixed it right up. But eventually hard water takes its toll and it's too cruddy inside.I love being able to make one cup (and it's a nice size cup, I use a 14 oz ceramic mug when I'm staying home).Only complaint is the permanent filter isn't fine enough for regular supermarket ground coffee. I get the Melitta #1 cone filters and it works fine. If you grind your own coffee you may not have that problem.Update: Less than a year and it stopped working. In order to get it replaced under warranty, I had to pay $7.50, plus $2.50 to mail them the plug (cut off from the maker). So, $10 to replace a $20 machine and it took over two weeks. I probably should have cleaned it more often, but I'm not sure it was hard water this time. 4NEVER againThis was my 4th Brew & Go in the past 16 years. I was happy with them lasting 5 years brewing 2 or 3 cups a day. I received this unit in January and the switch started acting up after 6 weeks. At 8 weeks it is completely dead. I contacted customer service and was told it was covered under warranty - just return the plug from the unit with a check for $7.50 to ship the replacement! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? They want me to pay shipping to replace their $18 defective unit?!! Not a chance. I'll go buy something else. UPDATE: customer service contacted me a few days after this review was written. They resolved the issue to my satisfaction, sending me an upgrade to the newer design single serve model. I have used it for 6 months and I am pleased with it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KDVJLP6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_Ytm1zbZNTBMTH 1
