Perfect flow for breastfed baby!
These are perfect flow for my breastfed son. Tried every bottle/nipple combination on the market, all had too fast of a flow causing him to choke. Even other brand preemie sizes. Also he was getting too much air when trying to eat. We were using the original Dr Brown preemie nipples/bottles but he had trouble latching on them. Was skeptical of these at first because Dr Brown website shows the wide neck bottle nipples only start at size 1. But contacted Dr. Brown company directly to confirm if these were authentic and was assured they were. Currently use with the wide neck glass bottles with no leaking problems what so ever. Very happy to have found these.
5Baby hated them
We have used dr.brown bottles for our daughter from day 1. She really likes the bottles and original nipples that they came with. I ordered her the 3's because she is now 7 1/2 months old, and she HATES them! I think the flow may be too fast for her, as the milk runs out of her mouth and she chokes alot. We are going to try level 2's now. Hopefully shes does better with those. These are also pretty expensive.
3Design Changed, New Notches Causes Leakage
Dr. Brown's Original Wide-Neck Nipple, Level 1 (0m+), 6-packThese Dr. Brown nipples are different from the usual nipples we've always used, which usually come in a 2-pack. This 6-pack version has a large "3" on the wider part of the nipple vs "Level 3" on the rim of the old nipples, which makes it easier to see. However, the rim now has notches on the underside. I'm not sure why they did this, because they now leak. They don't leak while feeding. However, if the baby doesn't finish, it leaks when you turn the bottle up again. We thought we didn't use it properly or didn't tighten the nipple well enough, but it didn't matter. It leaked for all 6 nipples.I'm not sure if the design of these nipples have been updated or if they're a different version that Amazon didn't differentiate the product name and description well enough. It simply came in a sealed, plastic bag inside a sealed cardboard box. I returned them and bought the 2-pack version with the retail packaging. No more leaking!*UPDATE* 4/1/17 - It looks like Dr. Brown's no longer produces the original nipples. They have discontinued their original bottles and are now only selling their "Options" bottles. This explains why all the new nipples have ridges in them. You can only find the original nipples from 3rd party sellers that have old stock. I couldn't find the original nipples anywhere, online or in-store. I recently had another baby and ended up ordering the 6-pack of Level 1 nipples, just to see if I'd have the same problems as the Level 3 nipples. And unfortunately, they leak too. Good-bye Dr. Brown. Time to find new bottles.
1Leaks and wastes milk!
I should have listened to the other reviews. These leak for some reason. They also look different from the dr. Brown level 4 2-pack that i purchased previously. They came in a brown box with a dr. Brown sticker seal. I questioned their authenticity after seeing thr brown box and how the writing on the nipples is different, but thought they can't be all that bad - boy was i wrong! Wasted a lot of milk trying to get these to work for me.
2be aware of this nipple. I think this is ...
be aware of this nipple. I think this is for Dr Brown's Optional, not Original wide neck. The original wide neck nipple has a completely flat bottom, while this one received has wavy bottom. this is problematic as it leads to a LOT of leaking. The only think I saw that fits original is the two-pack ones sold in plastic box and green colored. But I'm done with Dr Brown after so many leaks and even customer service can't help. Switching to other brand after baby is 6month old. enough is enough.
1MADE for SPECIAL wide mouthed bottles!
One cannot use these on the everyday Brown's bottles. You MUST buy a special, more expensive wide mouthed bottle to go with these nipples. I didn't know any better but learned quickly. After all the special orders, my puppies wouldn't accept these nipples anyway as, by the time I found out and had ordered the bottles, they were just about done with nursing...

Instead of 6 i recieved 5 nipples..Must b packaging default shld i send back or i will get missing one..?
1Made feeding time much better!
My eight week old son has acid reflux and we had to add cereal to his bottle. We tried cutting the hole bigger in size 1 and 2 nipples, but they would always end up too fast. I read somewhere about these nipples and decided to give them a try. They say nine months, but they work perfectly with rice cereal! I highly recommend these if you are in the same situation.
5I'm SO GLAD I came back to read these reviews
I'm SO GLAD I came back to read these reviews. My bottles a leaking EVERYWHERE, I thought it was the bottle and I was about to trow them out but now that the nipples have been brought to my attention It all makes sense! These nipples are the WORST!
1Fits Glass Dr Browns Wide Necked Bottles
Our Preemie daughter was over whelmed with the amount of milk a size one nipple was giving her. We bought one set and it seemed to have the right flow for her. Bought a second set (I m a pumping and working mom, so we have about 14 bottles on rotation between being ready in the fridge, waiting to be filled at work, and in the sink waiting to be washed/sanitized). The second set had one nipple that leaked the first two times we tried using it.My biggest complaint is the price point. The quality seems fine, but the price per nipple is pretty expensive in my opinion.
