Washable heat resistance. These gloves are great for occasions when you might need to touch the food and also avoid getting burned....like turning small items on a grill, turning over a large item, etc. I gave some to my son-in-law for Christmas. He called me a couple of days later to tell me the gloves worked great and that he was especially impressed because he could just wash them with them on like washing his hands, so getting food on them didn t matter. However, I m not as happy with the pair I ordered for myself (medium size female). I got one-size-fits-most and don t think I could wear them any smaller, but they are so bulky I have very little dexterity with them on. I will be able to use them whenever I can work with my palms, but fingers are useless. I first considered getting them when I needed to turn a turkey over after it was half cooked. The gloves would, I think, work for that because not much dexterity is required so I am keeping them. They could be worn to lift and move a large pan, but not a pot handle. The best part is that I will be able to wash them after that. I don t think they could be made any thinner or they wouldn t protect from heat, so not sure this product is recommended for small hands.
5They work!Worked great! Nine slabs and not a single burn! Made flipping the ribs much easier than tongs. Size 13 ring finger and we ordered the XXL. As you can see, they are plenty big which made them easy to put on and take off even on an 88 day. We also ordered the Grill Beast but because of sizing these were preferred.
5GoodGloves, But Not PerfectI was torn between these gloves and the fabric oven mitts, so I decided to try both. Here is what I found:* These are not affected by steam or hot juices. While you cannot keep your hand in a pot of boiling water for any length of time, they will not spread the hot liquid on your unprotected skin as the fabric gloves do.* These are easily cleaned. The fabric gloves lose their insulating properties if they get grease on them, but you can easily wash these gloves, and use them again immediately.* The color of these gloves will prevent you from losing them. While they may be a little too bright to hang up in the kitchen, they are perfect for barbeques where gloves are easily misplaced.* The benefits of these gloves are balanced by the fact that you lose some of the dexterity you have with the fabric gloves. They are comfortable if you place a little powder inside, but the fabric gloves provide much more dexterity and are far more comfortable than these gloves.Which is better? I'm not sure, so I purchased both gloves. The perfect gloves would be fabric gloves that are also water and liquid repellant, but they do not seem to be readily available, just yet.Minus: I get annoyed when Amazon sellers continually bug me me to rate my purchase. I'd really prefer to try my purchase for a few weeks or months to write a meaningful review. The reviews are intended for my fellow Amazon users, not to help the vendor sell their product.
3Not easily put on or taken off multiple times. The gloves were bought to assist my Husband while grilling on his pellet grill. He needed gloves to protect his hands from the heat as he flipped various foods. The problem with the gloves is they are 100% silicone with no liner. If his hands were a little damp from washing, holding a cold drink or a little sweaty they were difficult to slip on and off. I suppose a little corn starch or flour would help but then you would have to contend with that. If you were to put them on once to complete a single task then I could find the stickiness tolerable, but multiple times, not so. The company that makes these clearly appreciate my business and I believe strive toward customer satisfaction. These were just not for me.
2Hot silicone that grips your hands. Not cool.5-month update: I hardly ever use these now, and I've only kept them because they're useful for handling lids for steaming pots. As noted below, while they don't transfer heat right away, they absorb it pretty quickly during direct contact, and you just can't get them off quickly enough. Even running cold water on them doesn't cool them off quickly enough.Read the other reviews closely. It seems there is a trend where people post good reviews on the product for customer service by the seller, when there is a whole separate review process for that. Don't be misled.Heat bleeds through easily in places where the silicone is thin (between the little "fire" symbol studs) when placed in direct contact with hot surfaces. This is a problem at the thumb joint.
2Burnt Fingers First Use at 350 degreesThese are rated for over 400 degrees. First time use, moving an oven rack at 350 and I started to feel the heat within a few seconds. Suddenly the glove became extremely hot and couldn't get the glove off quick enough. It seems as though the glove stayed hot after dropping the rack and continued to burn my fingers. I don't understand all the positive reviews these don't work. Now I need to try something else. Any suggestions?
1They're okI ordered these quite a while ago and have used them on multiple occasions for a variety of tasks, but in good conscious I can only give these a 3 star. They're great for grabbing hot food itself like roasts, chicken parts, etc off the grill to turn or such, but I'd argue they're not as heat resistant as the claim is. I cook with cast iron skillets and using these gloves I cannot handle the skillets if I've been cooking with them for a while, while it prevents my hand from getting burned, its too hot to keep a hold of for more than a few short seconds if I have to move them, and the same happens when I have to lift a tray out of the oven. I'd normally give this a 4 star for its performance otherwise since they are very handy at the grill, but the cost docks a star since just as often, I have to still resort to a oven mit for things I thought these would be a replacement for.
3Awesome Sick BBQ/Smoking Gloves.....Hey Amazon'erz!!!Well let me just say these gloves were a AWESOME BUY! This weekend I smoked 4 briskets and a pork butt! There was a LOT of rotating of these meats all day long and opening and closing of smoker lids! When I smoke my meats I make my own rub from scratch. The use of chili powder is the main ingredient that will stain some gloves up lol. I have bought and used a couple different brands in the past. Most work fine but these take the cake! I was able to move my meats, open lids and add wood to fire box all day without ANY issues or my hands getting warm! The ONLY tiny itty bitty issue was my hands got a little sweaty thus making them a little hard to get off but just do like you do other normal gloves and use one hand to hold the fingers of the other as you pull your hand out...or slightly fling your hands towards the ground a few times till your fingers get free then pull them off but I just love them! They are a must have around YOUR house/business. One great thing about them is your able to use all your fingers (instead of other BBQ/oven mitts) and they go up about mid-forearm!!! The design is really cool too, all the little flames make it a very Manly Glove This would be awesome to gift of xmas to just about anyone (especially the dudes)!!! The end of my 17 hour day of smoking these meats I was so happy to see they came clean!!! All I had to use was warm water and dawn dish soap and they looked like new again with No stains!!! Go ahead get you some ....you know you want them!!!!
5Company stands by their productI initially bought these gloves based on the wonderful reviews but after just a few weeks of use, both gloves split in seams near the webbing of the thumb. Well I reached out to the seller and they indicated that they have made improvements to the seams and that they would promptly send out a replacement set. The new gloves have been working exceeding well and allow me to grab hot potatoes from boiling water and easily grab pans out of the oven, all without feeling the uncomfortable heat.
5Cool gloves, highly recommendThese are cool. I am a woman who has a guy-like approach to the kitchen and grill, so these feel sort of macho and high-tech. There's nothing flimsy or wimpy here.I like the way I can get a firm grip on a pan ... these give me a better feel, unlike some oven mitts that leave me feeling like I'm wearing winter mittens. Once I got them, I discovered how useful it is to be able to grab a pan from the oven and flip food over without always needing a spatula. It turned out to be helpful with fries and with portobello mushrooms. I can see using the gloves for kebobs on the grill, since they're always wanting to fall apart. And--BONUS--they were super handy when something I was roasting a cookie sheet slipped. I just caught the item in my hand and returned it to the platter. Now, sure, I would have caught it with my old oven mitt too, but ... gross. Just ... gross. I don't often think to wash my fabric oven mitts--I seem to think I will wash the fire-retardant off--but these just go right under the faucet and clean up nicely. And they are orange.Would buy them again and again.
