Customer Reviews

Very comfortable cushion to put on my office chair. The seat on my 10 year old office chair finally gave in and I started feeling sharpy thingys. Other then that the chair was still in pretty good shape and the kind of chair I like. In addition, I have bouts with hemorrhoids, that were bad at the time I bought this due to an Rx that was causing constipation. So I decided to kill two birds with one stone and get a pad for my chair that could cushion and had a hole in the center. I had one of the cheap circle foams that was ok, but this is way more comfortable. When I developed a back problem that caused pain down my leg, this proved to be very conformable, and I started moving around to other chairs in the house. I've since bought a second one for leaving in the car when I'm out and about. I'm don't give out a lot of 5-star ratings, but this cushion has really made sitting more comfortable. 5Kabooti: design great, comfort of foam - firm... Comfort wise the foam used on the one i just received is TOO firm. I have a camouflage Kabooti that I purchased over 3 years ago which is absolutely perfect and still my favorite. I compared the inner foam on both & other from the shape and design it seems they are not the same type of foam padding. I have 3 other designs & brands and found them all uncomfortable....hoping that in time & use, the foam on this Kabooti will eventually soften a little. 5Not for a smaller person, sorry, felt like a toilet seat! This cushion might be good for a larger person, more weight, wider hips. Unfortunately for me (5'3" / 135 lbs, narrow hips) the "hole" in the middle of the cushion felt like a toilet seat! I sank into it and had no support, plus pressure on my legs at the front. I was looking for a wedge shape with *lower* front, and because of the "hole" I felt exactly the opposite, no height, and knees higher than hips. Returning right away and will keep looking. 2Helps quite a bit I've purchased two of these and keep one in my car and one in the office chair. I weigh about 150 lbs and have not seen any evidence of either cushion getting flat (I've used one of them for about a month, the second one I just purchased). These make a huge difference in my comfort.Firstly, they are wedge shaped which enables my back to be more upright in car seats in particular, alleviating back pain. Secondly, the coccyx hole has helped me tremendously as that is where most of my pain would occur. My job requires me to usually spend 4 to 6 hours a day on the road and a few more hours each evening in the office working on paperwork. My main complaint would be that it is a bit firm and still causes some soreness to my rear end after a few hours. But it is so much better than not having it!It does have a carrying handle, which I imagine could help if you plan to frequently carry it from your car to your home/office or if you just like to look fashionable while carrying a coccyx cushion around downtown.***Update***I've been using my two cushions almost daily for a year and four months now and they are holding up very well! 4Superior to ordinary wedge cushions but not perfect for me I purchased this cushion at my doctor's recommendation to relieve severe sciatic pain in my pelvis and right thigh when driving on extended trips. Having just completed a long journey by car, I found the Kabooti to be about 80% effective. It did significantly reduce but not eliminate the discomfort. However, it was much better than the cheap foam wedge cushions I tried in the past. The product is solidly constructed and generally well designed, with an attractive and durable stretch cover. As a 6' tall 190 lbs. male, the side-to-side width was nearly perfect but the front-to-back depth was about an inch too short to provide adequate thigh support in a Toyota Corolla bucket seat (The cushion tapers in thickness from about 2.5" in the rear to about 1.5 " at the front beneath your thighs). I found that if I slid the cushion an inch forward from the back of my seat, it was much more comfortable for my upper leg while maintaining adequate support for my pelvis and lower back. Be forewarned, the cushion is relatively firm. Those with sensitive tailbones or bottoms may find it too hard. The Kabooti compresses about 40 % under my weight, which means that I now sit about 1.25" or so higher in my car. It took a little time to get used to the extra height when driving. 4Pain Relief, Not Very Comfy I'll make this quick: I ordered this for my office chair to first, relieve pain in my tailbone and second to add a layer of true comfort - the type where you forget you're sitting at all.Amending my review about a week after. I have to report that my pain is not relieved. It's not quite as bad as it is without the cushion, but I feel it all the time now regardless of the cushion. Sadly I am back to square one.Pros1. It relieves my tailbone pain which was my top priority, although it's not completely gone. I used to wince when I got up, but now I just feel some bearable discomfort. This is from biking over a pothole. OUCH!2. It's not ugly.3. Foam seems to be high quality and doesn't smush flat (I'm not small - 5'10" and what you might call statuesque).Cons1. It's not comfortable. It's not unbearable but I am always aware it's there.2. It's kind of small.3. I had no idea there was a hole in this - it's actually a donut. Part of my bum sinks into it. That's an odd feeling, but I guess fine. The thing I wonder is if the overall comfort would be better without it.I'd love to find Utopia but based on reviews it seems none of these cushions are and I just can't be bothered to send things back. 2best money spent on any cushion. I had stage 3 lower rectal cancer a few years back, and the resulting surgery left me with a lot of pain, discomfort, and other "issues," that made sitting a tortuous affair. No cushion in the world can alleviate ALL pain and discomfort, but I have to say, this one comes pretty darn close. It's amazing how something as simple as providing an "opening" for the coccyx bone can alleviate so much pressure, and it's the pressure that ultimately causes the pain and discomfort. I bought the cushion for my car, originally, and it's really helped me not dread driving as much. I plan to purchase a couple more for around the house. It may seem like an expensive cushion, but the money is well-spent, and the construction is quite durable. But for me, the easing of the pain and discomfort is priceless. 5It's ok, maybe better for people who like softer cushions and smaller rears. I didn't know which butt cushion to get so I bought three different kinds. I ultimately kept 2 of the 3 that I bought. But I'll give you the jist of it. Ranking with 1 - 3, 1 being the best and 3 being the worst.1.RelaxoBak Orthopedic Comfort Cushion - Personal Favorite - BestPros:- Firmness helps with support, large cut out for the Coccyx, slanted, quality foam material and has a handle.- I'm a desk jockey, so I sat on this for 8+ hours a day and my hip flexors and coccyx are infitnitely better than without sitting on this for 8+ hours a day.- Without the pressure on my Coccyx, I've been able to sit with a more natural upright posture, rather than a slouched posture. Very happy :DCons:It's ugly and has no cover2. Contour Products Kabooti Comfort Ring (Donut Coccyx Cushion) - Gray Cover - Very soft and has a nice cover - 2nd bestPersonally I found this too soft, I pretty much sank in it, but my mom prefers this more to the RelaxoBak. Probably because of the donut hole and very soft.Pros:- Very new age design with lots of functions, ie - donut hole for your butt, slits and rounded corners for your thighs- donut hole, the foam material is high quality foam.- slanted, very nice gray coverCons:- I thought it was too soft, but some people liked the softness- Didn't really find a use for the donut hole in the middle3. Large Medium-FIRM Wellness Seat Cushion (Size: 18" x 14" x 1-3/4" to 3-1/2". Color: Black) - STAY AWAY - TERRIBLE!Pros:- Nice cover- Has one very thin layer of high quality foamCons:- Feels very cheap- The second layer of foam, which is "high quality" so the say...I thought it was the lowest quality foam. Cheap, and the foam felt like the foam used to just take up some space. 3Best Cushion! I bought 2 of Amazon top seat cushion to help with my Lumbar posture and comfort. I'm an Athletic Male, 6'0" tall, 205 lbs, and these are my findings:RelaxoBak Orthopedic Comfort Cushion:Pros:+ Coccyx cutout is excellent.+ Very big cushion at its widest it is 18" W+ Handle makes it very easy to transport. Especially if you plan on taking it to the car or with you to a stadium game where the hard bleacher seats are killer-bad for back.Cons:- I'm a big guy, and this cushion is way too hard for total comfort. Its basically a flat* wedge (no bum contour) so it creates pressure points with the bottom of the pelvis bone.- Ugly looking, with no cover you can clearly see all the factory construction mold lines on the sides.- The Grey color is painted! When you flip it, you can see the factory construction holes, can tell that the actual inner foam cushion is a different shade of grey. So over time and use I bet the paint would chip off the foam making it look uglier.Contour Products Kabooti Comfort Ring (Donut Coccyx Cushion):Pros:+ Very well thought out contours and cutouts; the donut hole in the middle, coccyx cutout, and the outer lobes are perfect! All of them conjointly work together to keep you in place (no slippage) and help you maintain perfect posture with no pressure points.+ Cushion 17.5" Wide. Not as wide at the RelaxoBak but still works awesome.+ Stretch cover makes it more aesthetically pleasing than the RelaxoBak, and cover is machine washable.+ Package says its Made in the USA.Cons:- Handle is a small strap on the cover, so it feels very flimsy to grab. I don't really care about this since mine is gonna be stationery at my desk chair. In fact, thinking about it I like it better because strap is barely noticeable, keeping-up with the design. Conclusion:At first, I was going to keep both of these cushions but the Kabooti is superior quality and comfort. So now I plan on returning the RelaxoBak and ordering another Kabooti. 5Works sometimes I recently bruise my tailbone on a hiking trip where I slipped and fall on my butt. At first, the pain wasn't so noticeable but as time goes back it didn't get better. I went to see a doctor who suggested those seat cushion that would help my pain.I got on Amazon and started looking for seat cushions and found two that looked promising, the Contour Kabooti-Gray and the Aylio Coccyx Orthopedic Comfort Foam Seat Cushion. I can't decide between the two and decided to get both since I would need one for work and one for home.I used the Contour Kabooti-Gray for home and the Aylio Coccyx Orthopedic Comfort Foam Seat Cushion for work. I spend more time at work than I do at home but I do notice that it feels more comfortable at work than it does at home. The seat is supposedly design to create a "hole" so that you don't sit on your tailbone. I do find that if you sit "properly" which means sitting straight, it's much easier on your tailbone than if you say... slouched. The seat is also higher up at the back which I am not sure if it helps or hurt my pain. It is not very comfortable sitting on it. It is a hit or miss with Contour Kabooti-Gray seat cushion. Some days it would feel comfortable sitting on it and some days I just couldn't sit at all. 3
