Customer Reviews

Lives up to it's name. I have used several models of Leatherman products. Although I find them all to be superior to their competitors, the Super Tool is my model if choice. I personally have proven that I can't be trusted with removable bits, so the Super Tool's assortment of permanently affixed drivers are perfect for me. I also find that, even brand new, the super tool tends to open up to pliers easier than Leatherman's other models like Wave or Rebar. This is my 3rd purchase of the super tool. The other 2 were stolen, so I've yet to put the warranty to the test, but they've all held up amazingly well to the rigors of the Auto industry. Granted, I never use it for a task that is better suited to a larger more robust tool, but I've been surprised at the abuse it can withstand. My one complaint is that it doesn't have outside-opening blades like the Wave, so I need to flip the whole thing open to retrieve my blades, then close backaround it. Even that seems a petty complaint.I recommend this product to every young person I meet that is starting out in an industrial debug setting. I'd also recommend it to anyone who likes to be prepared for anything....Just remember to put it in your CHECKED LUGGAGE! That's how I lost number 1. 5Simple, practical, excellent quality The Super Tool 300 is expensive, large and heavy, but to each his or own, right? For my needs this is the perfect multitool in spite of the heavier weight. The selection of tools it contains are exactly what I need and the larger size fits my hand perfectly well making the tools easy to access and use on an almost daily basis. Also, I really like the classic boxy design, black finish and superlative Leatherman quality. However, the MOLLE sheath didn't work for me, I found it impractical and obnoxious - It's longer than I think it needs to be and the closure is nasty, loud, noisy velcro. I am now using the Leatherman Premium Nylon Snap Sheath and I'm quite happy. 5I give it a 6 out of 5 Four years strong and this is still my favorite tool in the box. I'm a mechanical engineering student, and I've used it for virtually every possible application. It's stood up to the task every time. It's been everywhere from the garage, to work, and even to the high sierras. I've used it to cut wood for fires, tighten screws on my laptop, post-process 3d printed objects, cut bailing wire, and in at least 100 other applications. This isn't a wimpy tool. Every tool is full sized, sturdy, and designed to be used. The wire cutters are replaceable for that day I have to chew them up cutting something they aren't designed for. The knife holds an edge better than some of my best dedicated folding knives. The saw makes quick work of branches, plastic parts, and even 2x4's in a pinch. The file is very hard, and has been used on many common plastics and metals without dulling. The screw drivers are full sized and don't slip even under high torque. The can opener is sharp, fast, and has been used dozens of time. The pliers are hefty and hold on strong to whatever it is I'm gripping. Even after all this use, it still folds up tight every time. This tool lives in my backpack day in and day out. I don't believe a better multitool exists, at any price point. 6/5 stars 5A very good all-around multi-tool for mechanics, homeowners, and truck drivers I bought one of these for my son, because he appreciates well-made, useful tools. I've been carrying one of these on my belt so long, and have used it so much that mine is getting kind of battle weary. In all the real world jobs I've done with this thing, the only lasting damage I ever managed to do was to bend the smallest screwdriver abusing it as a pry-bar. The tools are all useful enough that sometimes I whip out my Leatherman even though I'm only a short distance away from my real toolbox. 5Love it My other one walked off and I can not live without a Leatherman. I had this version but it was an older model. They have made some improvements that I have already taken advantage of. The pliers have cutters and the lanyard ring actually functions. When you buy a Leatherman they stand behind their product. My previous lost one broke the file when I was using it. I sent it in and in a few weeks they sent me back a fixed one. No questions asked. That's why I am brand loyal. 5this is a great purchase. Initially it can be a bit difficult ... I bought this multi tool 3 years ago, and it is still going strong. As a guy who is not particularly handy but knows his way around a tool box and likes to fix things, this is a great purchase. Initially it can be a bit difficult to open, but after regular use it becomes easier. While each individual tool does not perform as well as the non-multitool version, overall it is very useful when I don't have access to a variety of tools. This has been used to build furniture, build a computer, fix a door, among many other uses. The tool is well built and has stood up to some serious torquing on the screw driver and heavy use of the saw. It still functions very well with all the abuse it has sustained, the steel shows no signs of rusting. 5A Leatherman with EVERYTHING! I've had a handful of Leatherman tools, and this one is by far the biggest and baddest of them all. Some other reviews here are forever long, so I will try to be simple and to the point.PROS:. VERY strong tool, and I'm really hard on my Leatherman products.. Black Oxide Finish is holding up well, even though the surface layer scratches easily.. An abundance of tools in this Leatherman. Need an oddball tool?! Something in here would work... Dangerously sharp blades! The first thing I had the opportunity to cut was my finger. Works well.. File is high quality and doesn't wear easily.. Haven't had to change the wire cutters yet, but they seem easy enough to change.. Pliers are super strong. After they break in, one hand opening becomes simple enough.CONS:. Velcro that holds the knife in the sheath is weak, and doesn't last with everyday use.. Its heavy, but what do you expect when this much awesomeness is packed into a tool!. Ruler can be difficult to read against the black finish.. Some of the smaller drivers that are in between blades can be tough to get out. You have to be careful, or you can easily cut yourself if you don't pay attention. They haven't loosened up much even with regular use.The pros clearly outweigh the cons. The first thing I recommend is ditching the sheath. Being that this tool is heavy, I purchased a Maxpedition Sheath.. and it keeps the Leatherman snug against my belt to where you forget its there. Solid and incredibly strong, it contours to the shape of the leatherman and keeps it secure.UPDATE: The flat head screw driver tip snapped off on an easy to remove screw. My Klein driver removed it without a hiccup, so this is a bit disappointing. I now have to pay ten bucks to ship a four month old seventy dollar tool across the country.UPDATE2: Leatherman paid the shipping both ways, and repaired my tool within 2 weeks. No problems since, but i'm still cautious with the driver tips. 4Best multi tool I've ever owned, held up to years of abuse Hands down my favorite multi tool. For my job this is perfect. Didnt need the scissors that most multi tools have, and this has a great selection of flat tip screwdrivers. I'm still using the same one I've had for the last couple years on a nearly daily basis. I beat the crap out of this thing, I have literally used it as a hammer, and it's still in great condition. A bit heavy, and although I've been a bit jealous of the spring open pliers I've seen on others, I wouldn't trade this one in for any other. 5Great tool, takes getting used to though From messing around with the Supertool, I've noticed a few things. For starters, I did not have the quality issues that other reviewers have experienced. The pliers are in line, level (with standard, acceptable deviation) and seems strong. The knife is sharp and the grind looks good on it. Same with the serrated blade, saw and file (side note on the file: some reviewers have mentioned that when they pull out the file, it rubs against the side wall. I do not have this problem. It may vary between the individuals though). All in all, a great tool. I recommend it.However, something to consider before purchasing is this. When I got it and started using it, it was stiff. I'm hoping that use will loosen it a bit, or help me get used to the stiffness of the joints, just by using it and learning how to close it most efficiently. But as of now, it's slightly difficult to close from the open position. Also, some of the tool points are a smidge tight, once again, something that once you get used to, it won't be a problem.Another side note: If you did not know, the center tools inside the handle [flathead drivers/awl and phillips/flathead/can opener] clump when you pull them out. This may be an effort to help you select the tool you want. If you do not want clumping tools, this may not be the tool for you. If you don't mind clumping (I don't), then it's a non-issue. Also, while the centertools clump, when they are pulled up, they DO NOT pull up the large tools on the side. Only the center tools clump. The large side tools are separated by washers which allows individual selection of the knives, saw and file.In conclusion, I have very few problems with the ST300 and the problems I do have are tiny and should disappear as I get used to the tool. Once again, I recommend getting it if it has the tool set you're looking for. I will post an update about how the tool handles work once I've really gotten a chance to use it. 4it wouldn't be bad but it doesn't even fit You cant even close ... what a deal, spend 80.00 and get a .10 sheath with it, it wouldn't be bad but it doesn't even fit You cant even close the sheath. Why don't you just describe it like it is Leatherman only well comes with sheath might fit and might not.. such a quality tool and then send a piece of crap with it, oh that's right we need you to spend more money on one that fits. Make sure you read the fine print. Sheath may or may not fit. Its not the fact it's really cheap i can deal with that but now i have to place it in my pocket to carrier around which is a nescience 3
