Customer Reviews

Pointless, flimsy, and trashI rather have just order a bunch of Chinese Togo boxes. I would get food and free boxes. The quality of these are trash. Literally it's impossible to get oil off of them. They break easily. Very flimsy and can't microwave in them. I rather use glass containers for meal prepping because these are just too much work to maintain them. 1Failure after 6 UsesI have been contacted by LIFT about my review; Customer service is very good with this company. I have been offered replacements/refund for the damaged units. For the promptness of the response to my review I will be increasing the rating by a star. I will stand by my original statement and if the original units reach complete failure within a couple weeks I will remove an additional star or two. That being said, because of the great customer service I would consider doing business with LIFT again.ORIGINAL REVIEW:These containers have begun to fail after 6 uses. How I define failure: Plastic is beginning to change color (black is turning white and splotchy), warping, minor chipping, difficulty in closing lid/opening due to failure. How I use these containers:- Every Sunday I cook my meals for the week. Breakfast Lunch and Dinner.- I store these meals in containers and then refrigerate or freeze the meals based on contents.- I wipe the rims of the lids before freezing, and I am gentle when removing the lids. (Pop each corner up, slide finger under edge, lift)- I purchased each of these units for two people, 18 meals (3 meals per day, 6 days a week)How I clean these containers:- I rinse the containers with warm soapy water & gently scrub. Place on the top rack of the diswasher- I use normal soap, and run the dishwasher on light cycle, all the way through- I remove the containers and dry them by hand, since the deep ridges keep water trapped after drying cycle. How I reheat my food:- I remove the lid and cover with a paper towel, sometimes adding a splash of water- I place these in a microwave, on medium/high power, for 2-3 minutes depending on the contents. What is in the containers:- Typically I store between 500-600 grams of food per container. Normally 200-300 grams of vegetable, and 200-300 grams of protein. How I consume my food:- I only use plastic forks and knives- I do occasionally use a metal spoon for soups and riceHow I transport my food:- I Transport the food in a plastic grocery bag (I know bad for the environment; sorry it is cheap and I suck)- On my way back to my desk after heating the food I place the lid Top-Side-Down and place the black tray on top, right-side-upI do not believe I have used these items in an odd way that would have resulted in an early demise and for that I cannot give these anything higher than a 3 star rating. I personally would not purchase these again and when my containers fully fail I will update this review and purchase another brand of meal-prep containers. However, despite me disliking the craftsmanship of this product, it has served it's advertised purchase for roughly the same duration of other products in this price-range. If these completely fail within the next 3 weeks I will be removing an additional star or two depending on the severity of the total failure. How I define total failure:- Plastic fails compromising the structural integrity of the container- Fails to properly secure the lid to be water tight- Significant pieces of plastic end up in my foodI will be adding pictures of my meal preps to show (prove) the uses I have gotten out of the containers. 4Caution!My fianc was heating up pizza and left this in the microwave for 1:00 min. The plastic caught on fire. Thankfully we put it out in time. The fire stayed in the microwave, but it did burn the plastic and was growing pretty fast. I didn't realize these would catch fire so easily. 3I Prefer the Single Compartment ContainerDisclaimer: I think meal prepping is a huge pain in the butt, and ultimately, in my dream life, I'd prefer to go out to lunch rather than eat at my desk with perfectly measured proportions while obtaining the fitness results I want. However, my reality that on every other occasion when I've tried to increase my physical fitness without making the appropriate changes to my eating habits, it fails miserably. I also got tired of putting so much work in at the gym and then self-sabotaging my "gainz" (had to throw in a little bro science) by being lazy about my diet. So, this year I committed to meal prep on Sunday nights, and in conjunction with my workout schedule. 5 weeks in, I am already positive changes in my body composition. For me, I found that part of getting the meal prep right, in addition to finding tasty receipes that fit my macros and that I actually look forward to eating, included finding the right meal prep containers. I've tried other meal prep containers, and inevitably, they all cracked after being put in the freezer, and their re-usability was questionable at best. There is nothing more deflating about meal prep when your meal container falls apart during transport, spills or leaks or otherwise doesn't make it without melting in the microwave.I ordered two sets of these meal containers - a 7 pack of single compartment containers and a 7 pack of the double compartment containers (separate review) to try what I liked best. For me, these single compartment containers suit my meal prep style. I liked the dimensions: Specs: 28 ounces Dimensions: 8.10" (L) x 5.45" (W) x 1.5" (H) (no lid) - add 0.75" to the height to include the lid.I also liked the fact that the single compartments have a more shallow profile for easier stacking in the freezer and fridge than the double compartment container. Although, ultimately, I think container design is simply really personal preference based on what you like to cook and how you like to trasnport. If I wanted to keep sauces separate or had thoughts on separating food groups, the bento style box could be more advantageous. My dislikes for the single compartment are few: I don't like the fact that the lids between the two single and double containers aren't interchangeable, and I don't like that it is hard for me to tell when the lid is sealedI've washed these, put them through the microwave and freezed a few times. Good results so far, and they certainly make meal prep less of something I dread doing. 4I love these!I love these!! They were exactly what I was looking for and for a great price. The lids have a nice deal, and the cleaning of the containers is beyond easy. 5Meal prep made easyBought these to start meal prepping for my husband and I. The basics- yes, they are plastic. No, they are not made to last forever. That said, these are holding up pretty well in our house. Each one gets used 1-2x a week and is both refrigerated and microwaved. They also get cleaned in the dishwasher on the top rack. After 2 months, we had our first cracked lid (an unfortunate fall from an overpacked work fridge shelf). But beyond that, they ve been sturdy, reliable and hold the exact right amount of food. The lids fit snugly and contents stay put as long as you need them to. They stack well both when filled/assembled in the fridge, and when stacked and stored in a cabinet. If you re looking for seriously long-term, buy glass containers. But if you re looking for inexpensive meal prep containers that will do the job for many meals, definitely buy these. 5Awesome product! Great way to save time and money. These containers are a lifesaver! They save me so much time and money! I wish I had discovered them sooner. I used to live off of those processed frozen TV dinners until about 2 years ago when I decided to go vegan and adopt a plant based, mostly whole foods diet. In the last 2 years I have admittedly missed the convenience of being able to pop a tray in the microwave and have a meal in five minutes, but now I can again (only a healthy, home cooked version).I live alone and find it difficult to cook for one, so I always end up making huge batches of food and the leftovers ultimately end up in the trash because I simply cannot finish them quickly enough. Not anymore! Now I can just stick my leftovers in the freezer and have a variety of different home-cooked meal options in my freezer all at once!I also really like these containers because they are a good way to control my portions. Since I cook large batches and I am the only one eating it, I find myself sometimes going back for seconds or even thirds. These containers are the perfect meal size. Not too big and not too small. As for the containers themselves, they are really nice for what they are. The plastic is surprisingly sturdy, and the lid fits on nice and tight. I love that they are stackable because they don't take up a lot of space in the fridge/freezer, and take up very little space in storage when not in use. I love that they are BPA free, and the fact that they are dishwasher, freezer, and microwave safe is awesome. They are exactly what I was looking for.No more wasted food. No more wasted money. No more weeknight cooking. I couldn't be more pleased. My first prep was baked tofu, brown rice, and lots of broccoli =)EDIT: I bought 7 of these and 7 of another brand of meal prep containers here on Amazon. These are $10 and the other brand was $18. When they arrived I noticed that they are the SAME EXACT CONTAINER! Just a heads up in case you had your eye on both brands.EDIT: After having these containers for about 2 months I will say that they do begin to deteriorate after being frozen and microwaved several times. The black part has lost it's original shape and is beginning to chip and crack. The lids are still in good shape because I do not microwave them. As of right now the containers are still usable, and I might get a couple more months out of them, but this is definitely the type of product that will need to eventually be replaced after a lot of uses. But that is to be expected from a product made of thin plastic and I will continue to repurchase. 5Best Value All Around **06/09/19 Update**After researching and reading the reviews of several brands of similar containers available on Amazon, these seemed to offer the best value in quality, size, and quantity. I initially purchased two sets of the single compartment containers, and not only did they live up to the many great reviews, they far exceeded my expectations. So much so, that I purchased three additional sets of the 2 compartment containers. I had an upcoming surgery scheduled with aftercare that required 6-8 weeks of extremely limited mobility, and I purchased my first 2 sets to make my own homemade "Frozen TV Dinners" to have during my recovery. My five sets we're purchased in 3 separate orders and all 3 shipments arrived well packaged with all containers intact. With 9+ months of continued use, of the 50 containers purchased, I've only had to discard two lids due to breakage (see below). When used for freezing, they do a terrific job of keeping food fresh and without freezer burn for right at 3 months. After 3 months, I have noticed ice particles start forming. They work perfectly going from freezer to microwave. However, while the lids are frozen they are a bit brittle and two cracked as I tried to vent a corner before reheating in the microwave. What has worked best for me is to microwave on high for 2 minutes and then vent the lid's corner for the remaining 2-4 minutes of cooking. After I attach the lid, to get a truly leak-proof seal, I've found it best to use my thumb and forefinger to pinch around all four of the lid's sides. After doing this, I've found even broth-based soups will not leak out even if the container remains upside down. These containers are perfect for packing a week's worth of lunches at once and for storing leftovers. Instead of ziploc baggies or foil, I use them to store opened packages of blocks of cheese, bags of frozen vegetables, sliced fruit, etc. They're sturdy, dishwasher safe, leak proof, don't get stained from red sauces, BPA free and are more economical than the reusable containers I've purchased in the past at supermarkets (ie, Ziploc plastic containers). If buying multiple sizes, I have this to offer: While the one & two compartment lids stack perfectly on top of each other and appear to be identical, they are NOT interchangeable, and I found this to be quite aggravating. To combat this, I used a Sharpie to mark each lid with a small "1" or a "2" to distinguish whether it was for the single or double compartment container. I can fully recommend these.**Update** June 9, 2019I purchased 2 sets of these containers -one & two comprtments- about 18 months ago and have used them often. I use them to freeze meals which I then microwave and clean them in a dishwasher. I also use them to store opened blocks of cheese, cut-up veggies, etc. After 18+ months of frequent use, it's time for me to re-order them. I certainly wasn't expecting to get the use out of them that I did!! Given this, I can recommend themeven more now than I did in my initial review! 5CheapThe plastic container is very thin and flimsy. The top rim of the container ripped away from the lower portion (as other reviewers have claimed) on several containers after 4-5 uses/washes, rendering the "leak-proof" function as nonexistent. Can't really use a container that has holes in it to transport food...I began with hand washing them due to fear of breaking the containers (seriously, totally flimsy stuff here), but they never seemed to get clean. So I resorted to top rack dishwasher use. Needless to say, I'm now left with totally useless containers. Can't return them as the return window has closed, so they will be thrown in the garbage. 1So great for meal prep.Great products, great customer service. I got these containers in just the time. I had gone grocery shopping and was all geared to start meal prepping. I quickly handwashed the containers and lids, and the water seemed to just bead right off of them when all of the soap had been rinsed off. I packed them, and I was amazed by how much could fit in them.I have microwaved these containers with the lids on, but opened, so steam could escape and the lids wouldn't get warped. They're still holding strong. I haven't tried freezing them yet though.Honestly, my only complaint is that on the way to work, one of my containers leaked all over my pants. That was a simple fix though. You just have to make sure that all of the edges are perfectly closed. Even if it looks like they are, and all four corners are tightly fastened, you'll still want to pinch all the way around the edge, just to make sure. Other than that little mishap; (which was my fault; not the product's.) I have no complaints whatsoever, and intend to continue using these containers until they give out on me.Oh, and if you're curious, I don't think these containers stain. 5
