Looks dirty after washing in dishwasherI loved this measuring cup until I washed it in the dishwasher the first time. Now it looks dirty and gross, and no amount of scrubbing removes the white splotches. All of my other dishes are fine. 1Treat gently for years of useI'm always cooking for no more than one or two people, and most recipes are written for four to six servings, so I usually cut recipes in half. When a recipe calls for a tablespoon of a liquid ingredient (common in Asian recipes!) it's difficult (and messy) to accurately measure 1.5 teaspoons. That's why I ordered the OXO 1/4 cup measurer. I'm sure I'll use it frequently. On to its durability: this is a plastic measuring cup, and like ALL my plastic food prep tools, I will be hand washing it, and not putting it in the dishwasher. Why? Because dishwashing detergent is far too harsh and will, over time, fade the markings and eventually, cause pitting and scratches on the surface of the plastic (making it appear cloudy). I expect with gentle cleaning (and handling; I don't expect it to survive many accidental drops on my very hard ceramic tile kitchen floor), this cute little cup should last quite a long time. 5Very nice measuring cupI recently purchased one of those one cup drip coffee makers which is basically a porcelain funnel which fits over a mug. However, I was not getting the correct amount of hot water so I found this very light clear plastic measuring cup. Most of the measuring cups in our home are large and very heavy glass. This thing is light as a feather but what surprised me is the plastic holds up to extremely hot water: the handle did not get warm either. I have only had it a short time but it so far it is a great little essential tool for my morning/evening cup of coffee! 5Such a fantastic idea, why didn't anyone come up with it sooner?Ok. I'll say it. This measuring cup is odd looking. However, once you use it you will wonder why you didn't get it sooner.Pros:- So easy to read! Being able to look down and see the measurement let's you make more precise measurements without holding the thing up and risking spilling it on yourself. Not that I've ever done that...- Light weightCons- Would have preferred glass over plastic, but I understand why it's plastic. My advice. Try it. It really does work. 5Visibility vs UsabilityWhile the innovative angled scale is useful in many ways, the design of that scale makes this device harder to clean, especially for oily or sticky substances. I can guarantee that you will not get the full measure of honey from this cup. 3They're almost unbreakableI now have three different sizes of this cup: 1-cup, 2-cup, and 4-cup. I used Pyrex glass measuring cups for years, but recently one of my Pyrex cups fell off the shelf in my cabinet and shattered into many pieces, which made for a difficult cleanup because the pieces were mostly at the back of the cabinet close to the floor. I then decided to switch to these OXO cups, because they are much more resistant to breaking. The fact that they are a little easier to read the measurements helps also. I haven't been using them long enough to be sure they deserve a 5-star rating. 4Most inaccurate measuring device I have come across in almost a century walking this planet.Measure out 2 ounces of water using this product. Pour into a calibrated measuring device. You will discover it is actually 2.5 ounces. Pretty sloppy tolerances by any standard 1I like it very muchVery cute, practical little measuring cup. I like it very much. So disappointed that after just washing with soap and warm water, it developed unsightly spots and splotches on the cup. I never used anything that should have caused this but soap and water. Never used rubbing alcohol, essential oils, didn't put in microwave or anything else that should have done this. So disappointed. 3Great little gadgetMy friends and I had a night at Dream Dinners, a place where you go and put together supplied ingredients for dinners to take home. They had these neat, little measuring cups instead of the traditional measuring spoons. We all commented on how we liked them and how easy they were to use. I bought these to give as gifts to my friends who were with me that night and for myself. I really enjoy using it. It is great for measuring small amounts of liquids instead of using measuring spoons and it is easy to clean afterwards. Hardly takes up any space in a drawer either. Love it. 5BRILLIANTLY DESIGNED !!It is so Utterly SATISFYING to use a Product (and I am CONSTANTLY using a Variety of Oxo s Outstanding Products!!) that are Conspicuously Designed for Brilliant Usability!! No more bending over & straining my eyes just to read (the OTHER product s) _STUPIDLY_ illegible markings: the Oxo measuring cups are wondrously clear & legible. Yet Another problem I've had with NON-Oxo measuring cups which boggles the mind with their IDIOCY:: How is it even POSSIBLE that the OTHER companies would design spouts that fail to pour without spilling?! Please Permit me to supply the answer to that question:: They DON'T "design" them -- they merely cobble together something that APPEARS to be a measuring cup, but is NOT a measuring cup. That situation reminds me of a wonderful interchange that reputedly occurred when King Charles VII mockingly asked Joan of Arc: "What do you call a baker who removes bread from the oven before it is done?" I LOVE Joan's Reply: "Not a baker." 5
