Customer Reviews

I had read a few good reviews from chefs about this panI got this pan in January before I moved to a new house. Because I had an old mini pan, I survived a month with my old pan and had this one kept in the original box for a month. I had read a few good reviews from chefs about this pan, so I had a pretty good feeling. However, my experience over the past 6 months with this pan has been really terrible. I've never used any metal spoons or spatula to preserve the surface, so I've been using wooden chopsticks for the entire time. During the first 2 weeks, it was a non-stick, evenly heating frying pan. It began to stick little bit on the third week, but I was too lazy to leave a review until how bad it became after using it for 6 months. If this is designed to last only 6months, it's a lot of money you are paying for. I mainly fry an egg and stir fry tofu. These two pictures are after stir frying tofu and an egg. You can see the stuck tofu, eggs and how much oil residue is left. So, it's definitely not because I didn't use enough oil. I wish I knew this the first month I had it so that I could return it. Now, I can never cook any food without destroying the shape of the food due to the stickiness of the pan. I don't recommend this pan if you want to have a frying pan lasting more than 3 weeks. 1I've never been so happy to have an old pan ruinedI had a house guest who burnt my old, copper pan to a crisp and everything I cooked in it after tasted burnt. So I bought this pan because it's earth friendly. I've never been so happy with a frying pan. And that's saying a lot since I've had lots of roommates and I've used lots of frying pans. It's really sturdy but not too heavy. NOTHING sticks. And it's also really pretty and looks good hanging on my wall. One of my best purchases ever. 5Yes, you CAN reseason Green Earth frying pans!!!When I first started using this pan, I thought it was the greatest nonstick pan ever. But, after maybe three months, parts of the pan started sticking. After a couple more months, most of the pan seemed to stick about like my stainless steel pans. I was extremely disappointed in Ozeri's website, which proved to be absolutely worthless in helping with this situation. I tried every method I could find online, but nothing helped. So, one day when I was laboring in the sink trying to clean this "nonstick" pan, I looked over & saw a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (or one of the generics perhaps, as we have both) & thought I'd give it a try. My first cleaning with it got about 90% of the residue that never seemed to come off, & after another few cleanings over the next few days, it looks/feels/cooks like new. Now when I wash it, then turn it on its side to let the water drain off, ALL the water slides right off very quickly, unlike before when large sections of the pan would have water left on it (a sure indicator that that part of the pan is no longer "nonstick"). Anyway, it works great for me now, so I'm giving it a 4-star overall (it began with 5, than went to 1, & finally settling on 4 simply because Ozeri can't be bothered to let us know how to properly reseason the pan). 4This pan is amazing. Have now purchased seven of them for family members.I bought this frying pan for my mother in law, who wanted a nonstick pan that did not have a carcinogenic Teflon coating. I haven't tried the pan myself, but she has had it for over a year now and constantly raves about it. She swears that it only needs a wipe with a sponge or towel and it's clean. When my daughter visits my mother in law, she also loves using the pan, so I bought one for her as well. I see some people have reported that the pan does not perform well. All I can say is that my family members love it and have not had any performance issues.Update: 2/3/15 This pan has performed so well for my mother in law and daughter that I bought four additional pans (on sale for $15) for my brother, husband's aunt, husband's cousin, and myself. My pan has been in constant use for about six months now, and it performs as well today as it did the first time I used it. I believe that people who are experiencing poor performance from the pan may not realize that ceramic pans are intended to be used on moderate heat - don't go any higher than medium or your pan will not perform correctly! This is right on the instructions on the box. I don't even have to wash this pan - usually just wiping with a paper towel leaves it spotless.I have now purchased a total of six pans for myself and family members, and we all love it.Update: 7/18/15 I've just bought yet another pan for my younger daughter. Ours continues to perform as well as it did the first day I got it. Note that these ceramic pans are intended to be used with MEDIUM heat or lower, and with little to no added fat. If you use too much fat, you may lose some of the nonstick properties and see a whitish film develop. If this happens, simply wash the pan in a warm water and vinegar solution and you'll refresh your pan. Please note that I am not a paid shill. I'm just a middle aged housewife currently living in Toronto, cooking delicious meals for my family. 5Great for a few monthsI loved this pan for the first few months of use. It was a joy using it. The nonstick coating has now worn off and it is extremely difficult to clean. Everything sticks to it now.We have used it everyday since purchase but we have also followed the care and cleaning instructions so it it very disappointing that it's pretty much useless now. 2LOVE this panI read a lot of the reviews on here and based on that, I was a bit skeptical how this pan would hold up. So I ve waited until I ve used it for about a year to write this. I use it quite heavily, at least 3-4 times a week. It s become my main skillet. It has not become any less non stick or changed in any way over this entire time. I m extremely happy with it and it has made my life so much easier when it comes to clean up and my mind is at ease that I m not putting harmful chemicals into the air or our food. I should mention that I am very careful to follow the instructions to never run cold water into the pan while it s hot. I let it sit...no matter how much I d like to rinse it...until it s completely cooled. It doesn t matter because it s non stick!! Dried food is just as easy to clean off so why not wait!! 5Great Inexpensive Pan, Expect Some Loss of Non-Stick PropertiesI've had all sorts of non-stick pans, including German-made Fissler pans that are $150+ retail, and it's an inevitable fact of non-stick pans that they will eventually wear out and lose their non-stick character. Good maintenance and care is paramount to keeping the pans last longer, and I will say first that I did NOT take good care of this pan. It was relatively inexpensive, which is a major plus, and it was so slippery at first I could cook eggs without any oil. I got it as a throw-around pan for busy mornings when I whip up some breakfast for the wife and myself, and my wife uses it regularly to cook meats in the evenings. It's extremely low maintenance, and even after we've charred it, burnt foods on it, done wine reductions on it, the pan retains about 80% of its non-stick properties after 6 months of daily use. The significantly more expensive pans like Fissler start losing their non-stick after about 18 months. Seeing as though how you can buy 9 of these pans for one Fissler, I firmly believe this is a better purchase -- it's cheap enough you don't have to care for it, and it's durable enough to last long enough to pay for itself.I'd recommend getting wooden spatulas instead of silicone -- wood seems to help things slide on this pan better. If you take care of this pan, I'm sure you could get a good two years out of it before you had to get another one! 5Great little pan, holds up wellI bought this pan in December of 2014. Having bought an Ozeri tower fan, I was at least familiar with the name. I wondered about the range of products one company can produce and considered that Panasonic and Yamaha products run a wide gamut of needs as well.We use this 8" pan to cook eggs, mostly. Its non-stick surface has held up perfectly so far. It heats evenly and cleans easily. I highly recommend it for home, not commercial, use. 5Great non stick flying pan- Maybe, Maybe not? It's been almost 4 months since I started using this pan. I use this every day and It still looks and works great. I just need to be careful not to scratch the pan when I cook or wash it. Easy clean! yet gives food some seared look and taste. I now want to have the smaller one of this by the end of this year if this pan still keeps up great work. I am a one happy customer and user! I will update the review in the end of this year. Thanks for creating such a great non stick pan.Update....Sept 2013Well, sadly I am very disappointed on this pan since its no longer non-stick and I get very frustrated when I use it. Yes, I still use it since it's good size frying pan. I put EVOO but food still sticks on certain spot. No clue why. It's a pain to wash it. I thought about throwing away. Then I saw some reviews with similar problem. Luckily they got contacted by the manufacture. I hope they'll contact me. I was just so sad that I had such a high expectation on this pan. I guess just buy a cheap non-stick pans and just keep buying when they wear out or so. WHO MAKES GREAT NON STICK FRYING PAN?Updates...Dec. 2013I actually found their website and emailed to the customer service. I immediately received the correspondence email and they took care of me with very professional manner. They sent me the replacement quickly and I sent them back the one I had. They told me that they want to improve their product by studying what went wrong with the one I had. It was a breeze to send back the old pan to them. I was very impressed with their customer service manner and professionalism. Thanks to "Monica" who took care of my frustrating issue right away. I am a happy customer and giving another chance to this pan. I have been using the replacement for a month or two and no problem. I pay extra, extra attention to wash it with very soft sponge. Yes, I recommend this pan. Just making sure to use very soft sponge when you wash it ;) Also do not put on higher than med-high heat for sure. 4Considering that you could get a good grade polished stainless 10" pan for the same moneyOver two 1/2 years ago I finally got rid of my last PTFE based non-stick pan. The Ozeri looked promising at first but quickly I realized that the non-stick surface was only mildly so. Even with a light coat of butter, a fried egg has to be kept at very low heat not to stick. Anything that would stick to cast iron or polished stainless steel sticks to the Green Earth ceramic "non-stick" surface. It is easier to clean up than stainless, but by no means does stuff just slide off.Considering that you could get a good grade polished stainless 10" pan for the same money, why bother with this? Well, the ceramic coating does make cleanup a bit quicker than stainless, but you'll still need to add a decent amount of oil and not use at high heat to keep things from sticking. On the positive side, after 2 1/2 years, the coating still looks shiny, with no signs of wear at all. Unlike PTFE coatings, this ceramic is very tough. The pan is light, and if you wipe a thin coat of coconut oil, ghee, or Crisco on it before heating the pan it will help. Not, bad, just better values out there. 3
