Excellent Trivets!I purchased these trivets to use with my new induction stove. I love them! They clean up very nicely in the dishwasher and are a great size. I purchased four of them so I could always have two on the counter to use as trivets and I use the other two for potholders. The thickness is very adequate--I have not been burned using them as hot pads and they are very flexible. If the need arose, I'd definitely purchase them again; however, I can't imagine these wearing out anytime soon--they appear to be very durable. Great product.
5Great multi-tasking toolThese silicon mats are not thick enough to pull heavy items out of the oven, they just don t offer enough protection from the heat, but they are great for countless other tasks. I was in the kitchen baking a cake and in less than an hour I use the mats at least five times for five different tasks. I used it to open a jar, pulled the cookie tray from the oven, placed it under a stainless mixing bowl to keep it from sliding while I mixed, used it as a trivet for a hot bowl (ganache), and placed it between a turntable and cake plate to keep the plate from slipping off the turntable while I iced it.So this thing is truly a tool with many uses, and as an Amazon Lighting Deal it was a great price.
5Love the colorsI really like the silicon hot pads since I use them for opening jars and trivets and to stick on top of microwave bowls to keep the steam in, etc. Many uses for these things and they now come in colors and in shapes. However, with all of these thinner pot holder, when I grab the sliding oven rack to pull it out a little so I can grab the pan, I can feel the searing heat right through the silicon and it's strong enough to make me think if I didn't quickly withdraw my hand, I'd probably get a little burnt right through the pot holder. I'm still going to use it but when I need to grab the wire rack, I'll use my old trusty, stained, raggedy double-terry cloth pot holders that have been serving me diligently for 30+ years and my friend who passed them on to me for years before then. I do like the bright colors since our kitchen is so drab and outdated. They'd probably work okay as actual on-the-stove pot handle holders, trivets under hot pots and pans, etc, just be real careful if you grab something out of a broiler or oven.
4My new favorite kitchen item. When I first saw this product, I thought, big deal. I have 8 other silicone trivets in my kitchen and I figured, "Does the world really need more silicone trivets?" Then I ordered them when I saw them at a reduced price and I am so glad I did. As soon as I took them out of the package, I knew what the big deal was. They are SO flexible - unlike any others I have. They make it so easy to use as pot holders. The others are supposed to be used like that but they are so thick and unwieldy that I am always afraid the pan will slip out of my hands when I use them. Not so with these. Again, it is the flexibility that makes them unique.But...not only THAT! It is the array of colors that also distinguishes them from all the rest. I ordered the navy and they are a deep, rich navy, not the medium blue color of my Farberware set. The color is just the cherry on top because it is the design that makes them the ones I now reach for when handling hot handles and retrieving pans from the oven. They are truly my new favorite things in my kitchen.
5Pricey ineffective alternative to what you already haveI find these far less useful, and far less safe, than using simply a decent kitchen towel. I cannot hold a sheet pan, heated to 320 d.F., for more than a few seconds without getting pretty nervous with the creeping burning sensation. The rather small area and relative stiffness also makes them less than ideal than other things when it comes to grabbing hot pans and pots.As a spot to place a hot pot, well, maybe that's OK, but what kitchen doesn't already have one? A far better alternative for that use, IMO, is a cooling rack.I strongly suggest you pass this one by.
2BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD!One of the best things I've ordered in a long time. I do use them for different things, i.e., jar opener, a "lid" when microwaving, potholder, to protect my tabletop from hot dishes. Love them so much second order is for my son. Love the fact that they can be easily washed. Never use my cloth potholders anymore. I HIGHLY recommend these potholders.
5Heat Transfers, small and thinPerhaps these have a lot of nice useful features as others have mentioned, but I bought these for the purpose of removing hot items from my oven . So far, every time I've done that, I've had to VERY quickly move them somewhere so that I don't burn my hand. They are not very thick, and kind of small too. I worry I'm going to burn myself every time I use them. I'll keep searching...
3Wow! wonderful product! How versatile can a piece of silicon be? It turns out it can very versatile! I never knew how badly I needed a new potholder/jar opener/trivet/drip tray until this bad boy arrived. First, there was no smell at all, which sometimes does happen with man made products. This is super study and I love the grey color...classy! This is literally the best jar opener I have ever used. I have had trouble for years, but suddenly I have amazing grip ability when using this product. I have also used it several times as a potholder and I am amazed at how little heat gets through. A wonderful find! Everyone needs this!
5Does not live up to it's product description. Not sure how these had so many great reviews. I purchased these, expecting them to be a great product. The negative reviews aren't too far off - they are good for about a second or two. But if you have anything large where it would take 3 seconds or so (like taking a tray out of the oven) these are completely worthless. DO NOT BUY. I regret this purchase. I'm giving this two stars because it actually provides a minimal amount of insulation, just nothing that is useful.
2Awesome in every way, though they take a little while to get used toI love these. For someone coming from traditional pot holders, using these was at first jarring. The first few times I used them I was convinced that they would burn my fingers through. Thankfully, no such thing happened and I began to love them. The build quality is great, they're thick enough that they feel like they should last a long time. I also really appreciate the different texture on each side. The absolute BEST thing about these pot holders though is the fact that I can use them in the freakin' dishwasher. Super rad.
