Nice, cheap shelf This is what I'm looking for in a shelf. Cheap, sturdy considering it's materials, and decent looking. This is one of those cheap shelves that's made of what seems like a wood/cardboard composite. Assembled, it looks great, and isn't flimsypros:cheap.looks great.lots of shelves.perfect for games, movies, CDs, and similarly sized objects.Sturdy when assembled.cons:The shelves are grooved and sit on the pegs in a way that makes them easy to knock out. There's a gap at the back of the shelves where thin items like pens can fall through.Slightly difficult to assemble.notes:As other reviews have stated, there was a little sawdust in the box (no big deal).I did not use the 4 rubber tacks that are supposed to go on the bottom.Mine came with a thin cardboard-like strip, which I placed under the front of the base to give the shelf a backwards lean. 4Great shelves but do your planning ahead of time. These are excellent shelving units for storing CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays and VHS Tapes. They seem to be constructed very well and are fairly easy to put together as long as the directions are followed. If you have a lot of media to store (like I did) you will save yourself a lot of time if you plan how you're going to store your media before you start loading the shelves. The shelves have a trim piece that goes along the front edge of each side of the unit. These trim pieces somewhat limit the storage on each shelf as you can't get discs out of the corner unless you remove a disc somewhere in the middle of the shelf. That being said, here's my info and advice. The horizontal clear opening of each shelf is about 15 5/8".Each shelf holds approx. 40 CDs, 27 DVDs or Blu-Rays, or 15 VHS Tapes without having to put any behind the edge trim.Measure the linear inches of all of your media before you start loading the shelves then divide by the clear dimension. That will give you some idea as to how many shelves you'll need to store all of your media. I ended up having to buy two of these because of a door and light switch location that limited my wall space. The vertical clear opening is about 60 5/8". The dimension between each shelf for DVDs, Blu-Rays discs, and VHS tapes will be approx. 8 7/8" from top of shelf to top of shelf when the shelves are installed on the pins that are inserted into the sides of the unit. For CDs that dimension is approx. 6 1/4".If you set the shelves up like I did (VHS tapes on the bottom, CDs next, then DVDs and Blu-Rays on top you probably won't get all 9 shelves into the unit that come with it. I ended up getting 7 shelves into each unit and had to use one of the shelves to store DVDs on their sides. With my purchase of two of these units I chose to file my media in alphabetical order across the two units. That being said, I left some space on each shelf to add media as I go so I don't have to jockey too many discs are around when I add a disc to my collection. That allowed me to place some small display items on some of those shelves which adds to the look of the shelves. 5Ok for the money We spent the morning assembling this CD/DVD rack. It is constructed of particle board covered with thin plastic, so I'm not sure that it would survive a move. As did others, I upgraded the plastic lazy Susan bearing with a ball bearing one.1000 lbs Capacity 12 Lazy Susan Bearing 5/16 Thick Turntable Bearings VXB Brand https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0045DV04I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_sDE1xb7KVSKEGI drilled one hole through the foot board to match the large hole in the sheet metal of the lazy Susan bearing. That creates an access hole you use to drive screws through the top of the lazy Susan bearing into the rotating CD rack (the bottom of the lazy Susan bearing is secured to the top of the foot board first). I used eight 5/8" long pan head #10 SPAX screws to secure the bearing 4A little pricey, but finally what I wanted! For starters this item was a breeze to build. I ve bought so much furniture over the course of my lifetime that you have to build on your own and this thing took like 20-30! I kept getting distracted by YouTube videos. Instructions were a piece of cake. Nothing in the box was bent, broken or missing. In fact it was packed in there insanely tightly. If you have a gigantic collection of dvds/blu-rays this is not going to be big enough for you. But good news, this company makes more than one size! I m insanely happy with this item. So much better than the cheaply bookshelf I had been using. 5Would have been nice to know a few things first. While I do like these shelves, I REALLY would have liked to know that the individual shelves do not sit flush against the back panel. There is about a 1 inch gap between the shelf and the back panel. This is not a big deal if you're using it only for DVDs, but for my uses this poses an issue. Also, if it's designed to be mounted on the wall, the shelves should also be black on the underside. Instead, they are black on the top and front, but the underside is natural wood colored. It looks awful so I had to paint all the undersides of the shelves.IF YOU BUY MORE THAN ONE: Another reviewer mentioned this but I didn't see it until it was too late, but if you buy multiple of these with the intention of placing them side by side, they do not sit exactly flush next to either other. At the bottom there is about a 1/8" lip on each side, but the top does not have that lip. So if you plan to hang these side by side on the wall, make sure you take your measurements from the BOTTOM and not the top.The packaging was very good. I ordered 3 units and not a single piece was missing or damaged. My husband did opt to use his own wall screws instead of the ones provided. Otherwise we found the instructions fairly simple to follow. He's usually pretty picky about how sturdy things are but he feels comfortable with the wall supports included. I might still add some decorative brackets to the bottom just for extra security. 3Affordable, CD/DVD/Bluray, Shelf, Cabinent, Holds 525 CDs. I was in need of room so finding a CD/Bluray/DVD classy looking cabinent that can mount on the wall was crucial. This unit is well made and fits the purpose I described. I have now cleaned up all the places where I had stored my CDs over the past decade.Pros-Can assemble this and have it hanging in about 1 1/2 hours.-Heavy duty, should not fall apart, looks good.-Can hold 525 CDsCons-Does NOT come with wall screws to mount support board onto wall (see my added photos).-Unfinished shelfs (bottom of shelves not painted)-Need two people to lift and hang onto wallIf you decide to purchase this read further for building tips.-Buy (6) 3" wood screws to secure mounting board to your wall.-Buy (1) can of Black Spray Paint (Gloss) to paint the underside of the shelves.-Get these items before your package arrives so you wont need to make a trip to the store. This unit assembled is HEAVY. Once you add your media it will be really heavy. The directions says to secure wooden board to the wall studs which are located every 16", which would give you (3) locations to attach the board to the studs. Well my builder placed the studs very 20" (thanks alot!). So I could only secure the board to (2) studs. The directions says (1) screw for every stud. I dont want this thing crashing down in 3 months so I used (3) screws per each stud, giving me a total of (6) screws securing the board into the wall. Please see my attached photos. It is very stable and I am not worried about this thing falling down. If it does I will update this review! 5Good looks (after a little black paint) and very useful storage. This piece was easy to put together, works well, and the shelves are easy to adjust and you get more than a enough of them (I had three left over). This piece feels solid and took about an hour to put together and 30 minutes to hang on the wall mostly due to measuring and finding studs to screw it into. The reason for the 4 stars is that the shelves had to be painted with glossy black paint on the bottoms. The bottoms of the shelves were NOT painted and were plain particle board finish which contrasted with the black finish too much. The other reason is that I had to buy three 3 inch wood screws to mount it to the wall. The unit comes with 3 screws but because of its weight I felt the need to add 3 of my own too.Assembly was easy, a screw driver and hammer were all that was needed. It's a good thing that the assembly was easy because the instruction were a little unclear but it is pretty obvious what goes where. All said, I'm happy with this unit (after painting the shelves) and would buy another one if I need it.NOTE I filled mine with DVD's and I got about 200 of them in it. If you are storing CD's or Blue Rays you could get more because the shelves are so adjustable. Dimensions are 44" wide, 8" deep, 34" height. 4Solid and Well Made I've been looking for something that I could use to store/organize my DVDs/Blu-rays/video games, and this does the job quite nicely. The product itself is high quality and sturdy; once it's assembled, you may be surprised by how heavy it actually is. Because I placed it on carpet I used the optional wall screw/zip tie securing feature, which is great if you have kids (as I do). As you can see in the picture, there's a lot of storage available, but I filled it up almost immediately. Basically, I underestimated how much media I have. If you have a lot of DVDs/etc., you may want to opt for something just a bit bigger. 5Bigger than I thought The Shelf looks great and holds a lot more movies than I thought it would. When spacing two columns for Blu-ray and one for DVD there were quite a few shelves left over. It is made of a MDF and the base is a little small for it's height. If using on a carpeted floor it should be mounted to the wall for stability. The manufacture recommends mounting it in all cases but I find it is very stable on my tiled floor. I would give it 4.5 stars because of the base.Anyone who is familiar with assembling prepackaged furniture (e.g. Ikea) will find that this is simple to put together. My wife and I assembled this in about 35 minutes. The box is heave and the shelf is bulky when assembling so I recommend 2 people for assembly. Make sure to put it together in the room you wan't it in. It is wide and may not be able to turn around corners very well. 5The quality is good and item looks nice This holds 489 DVD's by laying one shelf group on their side due to height restriction. The quality is good and item looks nice. Very easy to assemble. Unfortunately, my DVD collection totals 667 and this item was not large enough. It would be helpful if the description would have included the number of items it would accommodate (i.e. CD/DVD/blue ray, etc.). My picture below also includes book ends on top with an additional 74 DVD's. 4
