finally something to replace my 42 year old tupperware cupsi had two sets of tupperware measuring cups that I loved, they stacked easily, and had 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 2/3,3/4 and 1 cup measuring cups. Well, some have broken right though and most have flaking plastic. Still I help on to them because, "tupperware is guaranteed for Life". well, I did find a dealer and had the 1 cup measuring cup replaced (it was the first to go) but I don't like the new cups as much, but to end this saga, I finally realized that tupperware doesn't owe me anything. those cups have done their duty well, but finding a replacement set that had the 1/3, 2/3 and 3/4 cup was ridiculously hard. These are perfect. they nest today completely, better than the tupperware ones did, are sturdy enough that they should last for a good long time . I actually am ordering two more sets, one more for myself ( as I like having two sets) and another for the school where I work. I don't know why most measuring cups don't have the 1/3,2/3 and 3/4 included. So glad to find these5Not bad. Not great.Pros: 1. variety of sizes for both measuring cups and spoons.2. Bright colors.3. Amounts are easily readable on the red and blue colored cups and spoons. Not easy to read on the white colored pieces.Cons: 1. Cheap connectors used to hold cups and spoons on ring. It doesn't properly lock and they seperate and fall off easy. (I put the cup sizes I use most frequently on one ring together so they'd stay on the ring).2. The sizes on the white color cups and spoons are very hard to read.3. Clear liquids are somewhat hard to see when exactly at the top of the white measuring cups. This may be a small thing to some, but fellow bakers will get the importance of this.Overall, not bad but wish the white was another bright color.4Wonderful, thorough set, and well-madeI purchased this set, as I was unable to find 1/8 cup and 1/8 teaspoon measures off the shelf. Strange, as that used to be the norm. Somehow, I misplaced both of my one cup measurers, so I needed to replace my existing set. This set contains a plethora of measurements, and nothing like what I've ever seen before. What a difference, as now I don't need to keep washing my measuring cups or spoons for different ingredients that require slightly different amounts. The material seems very sturdy and washes up beautifully on the top dishwasher rack. I also appreciate the different color for each measurement, as it makes selecting a size much easier. Also, this set would be an excellent gift for someone setting up a kitchen for the first time. My only complaint is the measuring size numbers are a little difficult to see in dimmer light, as they are not tinted a different color; they are merely raised on the surface. While this is typical for measuring cups, for some reason, it's a little bit more difficult for this set. Regardless, I am very happy with this purchase.5measuring cups & spoonsBe sure you have excellent eye sight......CANNOT read the measurements on cups nor spoons. They are useless to me.1Please rethink buying these cups.I bought these a year ago and loved the fact of having so many sizes and the pretty colors. After having them only a couple of weeks, the handle of one cup snapped off while scooping sugar. Now a year later only three cups have handles and those are the cups I use less often, The spoons, however have held up. I hate to write a bad review, but hate even more that others would waste their money buying these cups.1Not the proper tool for sifting whole grain flour!I purchased this sifter to sift out the bran from my freshly milled flour, but apparently this is not the proper tool for the job. There are two separate parts that can screw onto the sifter itself - a cup to sift the flour into, and a fine screen that you have to shake the entire sifter to process the flour through the fine screen. The actual sifter screen is no finer a mesh than any crank sifter out there. The separate fine screen is great, but it makes no sense to screw it onto the sifter, where the flour is sifted directly onto the fine screen only to have to be shaken vigorously to do the final separating of the bran from the flour. The fine screen should be made to screw onto the cup where the flour can be sifted in, and then the fine screen screwed onto the cup, at which time you would shake it to do the final separation. It is easier to hold the cup upside down and shake, just like any shaker, than to try to hold on to the sifter, maneuvering around the hand crank making the whole operation quite awkward and clumsy. For the same or less money, I could have gotten some sifting screens to do the job, which I will now do. I just thought that this product would be less messy. Turns out it is actually very messy!3Good value if handled with care. The pros: This about the most complete set I have been able to find, where the handles and measurement font did not break or scratch off.The bottoms of the cups are flat with the inside of the cups just slightly rounded; especially perfect for sharp soft edged silicone spatulas (which I prefer). And, it comes with an 1/8 (30ml) cup as well as a 2/3 (160ml) cup which most sets don't include. In addition, it also has a smidge, a pinch, and a dash spoons. The font is raised embossed in both metric and imperial on the handles (right handed). They're priced to sell. I was surprised to see this same set, for literally double the money, elsewhere online and am glad that Amazon is selling it for a more realistic price. The cons: it does not have a 3/4tsp.Though I appreciate the raised font on the handles, it could be a little thicker and/or raised a little higher. You have to get the right lighting direction to see what you've got.The plastic they're made out of isn't very strong or thick - especially thin on the larger cups - I wouldn't attempt to scoop out of a tub of margarine (if I used margarine, but you get the point) or use the handle for 2 cups of flour as the integrity of the strength just isn't there. I doubt I'd use the cup handles of any over 3/4 cup. They are a kind of bendy.Though they're dishwasher safe I would wash them by hand if you want them to last.I would have given 5 stars if they were made to last proper, but added 4 stars because for what you are getting they're priced appropriately provided they're handled with care.4too good to be trueWow, there is a cavalcade of different measuring cups in this set. I had a set from BBB from 10+ years ago and all the ridiculous labels wore off, so it was guessing the last few years as to the sizes. When I have a bunch together, it's easier, but pull one out at random and it's tough to know.I went to retail stores to find replacement set, but wherever I went, there was never the full set I had before. The 2/3 and 3/4 sizes of cups, tsp or Tbsp were never complete. This has them all and then some. Too many if I must say. Haha. The only gripe I have, but that doesn't take away from the product or any stars, is that the loop that holds the cups/spoons together is not removable, but I cut it off anyway because I don't like them all stuck to each other anyway. Some people do, I don't.UPDATE: I'm a doofus. The clip IS removable. Looking at it, it doesn't like like it is, but it's a snap that you pull apart, but not the way you think. You pull the pieces apart sideways rather than directly apart from each other. Look at the photo, because I can't think of a way to explain it.5They're just "snappin'"...!Do not like... I HAD loved the idea of this set, with its complete set of measurements and more, but the handles all started snapping off within the first two weeks, and I am not at all hard with utensils. I still have many of the same various purpose sets I was given for my marriage 34 years ago. These though, simply snap off at the cup, so that now, a year later? Are ALL cups only, without a handle in sight. VERY disappointed by same...1Very disappointed!I have found that the handles break easily. The 1 cup measure handle happened with sugar. The 1/2 cup handle broke yesterday with flour. I don't use measuring cups all that often so it's not like they were worn out. They just snapped off. They are not very thick handles and there is no support. I have tupperware measuring cups from the 70's that are still in great shape. I hope that Progressive will take note to manufacture these properly.2
