Super Duper Pitcher Filter. Best I've Tried.I live in an area where the tap water tastes bad to me. Buying bottled water was beginning to become very very annoying - the price, but more having to carry it! Thought I'd give this filter a go since it removes 99% of the fluoride and chlorine from the supply amongst other contaminants. Other pitcher product purchases in the past put me off buying this filter. This one is far superior in quality. The water actually drips through the filter - one drop at a time. It can take several hours to fully complete. However, if you buy a couple of good glass containers and keep on top of it, it works well enough. Do one when you get up, one during the day and one before bed and any other time you're in the kitchen and think you may need to top it up.I haven't had the water tested, but you can tell the water taste is excellent. Much much better than bottled and there are no estrogens in the water as with plastic bottles if that's of a concern to you. Just wish I'd bought this product a year ago. When pouring, you need one hand on the lid.I'm more interested in the pure water quality than if the lids drops off, like others have stated.Super water quality. Can't fault the taste in any way. Well recommended and I'll be considering buying another if it's a hot summer! 5and I think the water is fine. I did a lot of research before buying ...it took a long time for the filter to start working, but now it is working, and I think the water is fine.I did a lot of research before buying this. It's supposed to be the best pitcher filter on the entire market, so it's worth the money if you need heavy duty filtration. I know I do because I live in a poor neighborhood where the tap water will make you sick. 5Delicious clean waterThis water filter makes water taste delicious. I have been drinking filtered tap water at home for several years now (previously drank Evian) but recently found out that the under the sink water filter we have been using doesn t filter out fluoride (and probably some other stuff). Since I wanted to reduce my fluoride intake I purchased this so that I could filter the water already filtered by the under the sink filter to remove whatever that filter did not.I occasionally still drink water that has only been filtered by the first filter (if I am standing at the sink if is easier to turn on the tap than walk to the Propur pitcher), and I notice a huge difference in taste between that and the twice-filtered water. Water that has been filtered by Propur is so clean and pure tasting, it s even tastier than the Evian I used to drink. I haven t used the fruit infuser attachment yet because the plain water tastes good enough as it is.The water does filter through quite slowly but it s not like I stand there watching it drip down. I just fill up the top compartment in between uses and I haven t found it inconvenient. I never knew water could taste so good and am very pleased I made this purchase. 5UPDATED reviewDrips some from the reservoir, but doesn't stream, from under the lid. I can live with that I guess. Takes A LONG TIME to filter, I guess I'll live w that too. Filters out fluoride-except the drips, yay!****UPDATE/HACKmy husband and I took note, the filter doesn't work if the lid is on too tight, so while filtering level the lid ajar a bit; THEN, once you need it, thwack the lid (don't break it but give it a good square (lined up lid) thump. And TA-Da, no more drips. AND, it filters better. We discovered this after o bought a second filter, so I could alternate the fresh scrubbed filters to speed up the process when no one wanted to take it apart (again) and scour it off. 4and this is by far the best water-filter pitcherI ve been using ProPur filters for about ten years or so, this is the first ProPur pitcher I ve used, and this is by far the best water-filter pitcher .... period! It s a DRIP filter, and if doing a good job (as opposed to a Brita, or PUR), it will be slow. It is NOT unrealistically slow, it is a normal drip-filter. The lid fits snugly if one simply takes the time to place it on the pitcher properly....not a big issue at all, it merely takes a persons thinking/reasoning ability to come into play. 5Even after following all the manufacturers procedures, after four ...Even after following all the manufacturers procedures, after four attempts it still took over 5 hours to fill a pitcher with water that was already pre-filtered. The pitcher was bought to remove fluoride from city water which my carbon filters could not remove. Who can wait 5 hours for a pitcher to fill? This product is not a practical solution. 1Filters well but has design flawsI like this product and use it daily to remove Fluoride and other objectionable substances from my drinking water. I read several reviews that spoke of the filter stopping after a short bit of use. I had the same experience and almost sent it back after only a week. Instead, I cleaned the filter again and tried it. It worked for a short time then the flow coming into the collection chamber stopped. After messing around with it for a while I discovered the lid fits very snuggle and does not allow for air flow to equalize the pressure in the filter area. After drilling a couple vent holes in the top of the blue lid the flow runs much better. So far I have two holes slightly larger than 1/8 inch. I may drill a third depending on the consistency of the flow. We still have to hold the lid in place whenever we pour or it will come off but at least it is working better. Maybe the designers will look into adding pressure compensation vents to the lid???? 3Heads Up: Photocopy BoxThere was no information leaflet inside the box so all of the information, including instructions, technical and warranty contacts, filter type, etc. are contained only on the outside of the box. I just photocopied each side, stapled the pages together and filed it. I know you can just as easily go and look it up online (or maybe not) but I'm old school and somehow like just having it at hand.So far, this has been a great pitcher. Some have commented that the lid didn't fit snugly but mine fits almost too snug!! but not complaining, it's perfect. Doesn't come off when I pour. I don't find it slow filtering. Maybe 2 hours at most per batch. I boil and cool my water before I put it through the filter and I can do that every couple of hours, depending on how much water I need. I don't use the pitcher as a storage device, strictly as a filtering device. I like to get the water in to quart glass bottles as soon as possible because even though this pitcher is BPA free, there are apparently some other things in plastic that we need to be a little concerned about. So, at least for one person, this pitcher filters all of the water I need for cooking and drinking. As for the water quality, I haven't had it tested but I no longer taste all of the foul little flavors that I was detecting in my tap water. Also, I tried just drinking tap water for a few days and I developed what I can only describe as an irritated bladder and I attributed it to maybe a lot of hard minerals in the water and maybe other things as well. But, that symptom went away immediately and completely once I started drinking this filtered water so it must be doing something good! And the little fruit infusion basket is a fun touch. I put some dark berries in the basket and it lent a slight flavor and a beautiful pale hue to the water so it made quite an appealing presentation! I know there are some who say that it isn't good to strip all of the minerals from the water but I've also seen some research suggesting that the inorganic minerals in water aren't really absorbable anyway and we need to look for organic mineral sources. I didn't do extensive research but I don't rely on my drinking water for important magnesium and potassium and other minerals anyway so I'm fine with it. I would recommend this product. 5Want To Drink Pure Water? This was a quality purchase. As marketed the water filtered by this pitcher TASTES PURE; much better than what was coming from my BRITA water filter. If you reside in a complex with iron pipes, then this is the filter/pitcher for you. During the first few days of use the water drip rate from the filter was extremely slow, but it gets better with repeated use. That said, my only complaint is the flow rate of water being purified via the filter is slow; I attribute this to the comprehensive filtering. Preparation of the new filter cartridge before use is critical to attaining good results going forward; don't just install a new filter cartridge before preparing/conditioning the cartridge as displayed in the instructions. I WOULD DEFINATELY PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT AGAIN. Remember to be patient with the first few days involving the extremely slow drip rate; this will improve with use and reward you with pure tasting water. I just cannot go back to BRITA water filtering. 5Great FilterI don't know why people are complaining about the filter being slow. I mean, it removes so many chemicals so it will be slow. If it was fast to filter, people would complain about it being fast and not removing impurities. No kidding, I was reading the reviews on Aquagear, and there were reviews that said it's too fast to filter(LOL).It takes about 1.5 hours to filter 1.55 liters. If you keep filling it with water, you won't ever have a problem with running out of water. I like the taste of the water, and it removes all the horrible chemicals esp fluoride and waiting(not too long) is a small price to pay.I did a lot of research before investing my $70, and this is the best water filter pitcher out there, in terms of cost, durability, and the number of chemicals it removes. This brand might not be as popular, but it is the best out there. 5
