Great Deal for The MoneyI bought this because I've broken several glass coffee presses. I've had this for several months and use it once, maybe twice, a day. The screen is easy to clean and the finish looks just like it did when I first got it.For the price, this is a great dealUPDATEI bought this near the beginning of 2017. Used 2-3x a day. The joint between the rod and the filter failed 12/06/17. Usually these fail because the rod becomes unscrewed from the rod assembly- this was not the case. The entire filter assembly fell off the rod and the rod assembly. Needs to be re-welded. Bought a second one. 5GREAT PRESS! Keeps coffee HOT!I've been using this stainless steel Secura French Press Coffee Maker for a month now and I'm very satisfied with the overall performance of this product. In fact, the screen on this press filters out more coffee sediment than any other press I've owned which is a VERY favorable feature to me. I recently switched to a stainless steel French press from glass simply due to my falling back to sleep sometimes after making coffee, and then, waking up to an undesirably warm brew. This press is insulated and does keep the coffee hot until pressed for at least 3 hours by my measure. I haven't specifically tested it, but have woken up to hot coffee(I also prime the press with boiling water before brewing) after falling back to sleep for a few hours. I, of course, did my due diligence and settled on this particular French press on account the many good reviews, as well as, because it met my criteria. The concerns I had when I purchased this press were to do with a few things I had read about this and a few other stainless steel presses. First, I was concerned about being able to twist off the screen hardware without having to use pliers and risk marring up the plunger shaft. I did experience the plunger knob twisting off instead of the screen hardware, but simply made sure the plunger knob was twisted on tighter than the screen hardware. So far, this has worked out just fine. Similarly, I make a point not to needlessly over-tighten the screen hardware. The second concern had to do with the plunger knob apparently breaking on some units. Again, I avoid needlessly over-tightening the screen hardware or the plunger knob...I mean, it's a coffee maker! How tight does the hardware REALLY need to be to make good coffee? Thirdly, I read that water had gotten trapped in the lid and would not come out. On purpose, I only hand wash this press, but even so, I've had occasions when rinsing the lid where water has gotten down into the lid (no big deal). Again, this is a coffee press. There is no need for engineered precision or tolerances. On that note, the hole in the lid where the plunger shaft slides through has enough room to allow for trapped water to easily drain out (see picture). I suppose it's possible other units may have had less room between the plunger shaft and lid preventing water from draining, but mine drains fine. Lastly, I had concerns about internal body rust and faulty welds where the handle attaches to the body. I've only had my press for a month, but I do my humanly best to take care of it. It gets used EVERY day and sometimes twice per day. Sometimes it gets rinsed out right away, and sometimes the grounds sit in it over night until I rinse it out the next day to make more coffee. So far, this press is a champ, and is my absolute favorite press of all the ones I've ever owned. 5Awesome Press! So, I started making pressed coffee with a cheap press pot from Target. It was a pretty standard affair -- glass beaker, the rest was plastic, save for the metal plunger. Oh, and the mesh screen on the plunger? Couldn't be taken apart for cleaning. You'd pretty much have to replace the whole thing once the screen inevitably wears out. So now that's just a pitcher without a lid. So. . . not wanting to repeat that experience, I turned to Amazon and found what looked like the sturdiest thing I could find. That's this little gem. I got it a while back and managed to keep it pretty shiny. Every single part of it can be taken apart for thorough cleaning. A press pot is just a press pot, though. The coffee you get is pretty much only as good as your grinder -- even if you use all three of the mesh screens at once, you still need a coarse, even grind for a good, clean cup. But more importantly, you also need a good, clean brewer if you want a good cup of coffee -- residual oils from the last brew can go rancid and ruin that nice, fresh brew you just made. Solution? Get a press pot that you can easily take apart and thoroughly clean after each and every use. Stainless steel is easy to clean as long as you clean it rather promptly. If you're new to using a press pot, you may opt for one with a glass beaker instead, as that allows you to see what you're actually doing. But even then, you'll probably want to upgrade to stainless steel eventually, due to its excellent heat retention and its longevity. Although the mesh screens should be changed about once a year, I expect the rest of this product to last as long as I do, otherwise I'll update this review to let you know. 5THE BEST ON THE MARKET!!!I bought this for my husband after his percolator went out. He mentioned he wanted to start "French pressing" again, and so I came across this on Amazon. I have to tell you, my husband is IN LOVE with this little French Press! It is very sturdy and when we tested a strong magnet to it, it would not stick so it is definitely a high quality stainless steel. It will keep coffee hot up to 20 minutes or so. I love it because even though I am not a coffee drinker, I AM the coffee pot washer... it is very easy to clean, and if needed the wheel and mesh come apart to get stuck coffee grinds out. We have not had this for two weeks yet, and have already had friends and guests want one! I can truly say that if you buy this awesome French Press, you will not be sorry, as it is an unusually great and perfectly designed press! 5OMG!I've had every invention known to man on my quest for the perfect cup of coffee and well, I've found it. GOLD! I struck gold with this bad boy. My last toy was the Keurig, my least favorite of them all, its failed me miserably. When I say I've had every coffee making contraption out there, I mean it, and you diehard coffee connoisseurs know what I'm talking about. I decided to go back to far, far away and get another percolator because after searching my life through in memoryville I believed that the best cup of coffee I had produced came from a percolator. But this time, I wasn't willing to toss money to the wind and go with my gut. I decided to do something I hadn't ever done before. Research. After reading, my least favorite thing to do in life, a million different reviews and watching I don't even know how many videos on the art of coffee making and consumption, I started really feeling the French press. Again unwilling to just buy without going to the next level still again and researching the best presses money could buy you, and there are a LOT of choices and a LOT of opinions, after many hours of sweating and reading and considering and fear of making a wrong decision, I decided to give this stainless steel French press a try. For several reasons I chose the stainless steel over glass. This puppy is insulated, first. It's solid, tough and heavy; very well made. Second. It won't break, Third. It won't break, fourth and it won't break, fifth! After all of my video tutelage I was nearly an expert before this little 8th wonder of the world arrived yesterday. I got right on it. I took apart the press and thoroughly washed all of the parts and put on a pan of water and began grinding my beans. As soon as the water came to a boil I let it cool down until it stopped bubbling. I scooped three rounded tablespoons of my medium course grounds into the press, pored in about two inches of water over the grounds and stirred. Then, I let it sit for two minutes to brew. Then I poured the rest of my hot water I in the press and put the lid on slightly pushing the press down just in order to create a seal, and then, I waited. I put my timer on for 5 minutes. Then I began the decent.... Pressing gently so as not to force the hot water come splashing out and scalding me. It took maybe 30 seconds. Then, the final step of my journey was upon me. I poured and tasted the best cup of coffee I've ever had in my life. It's unbelievable. I can't say enough good about the experience and this stainless steel French press. I'm telling you tho, at this price which is pennies really, and with the construction of this press, it's the best thing since chocolate was found. I think of all of the money I've wasted on coffer making contraptions over the years and it makes me dizzy. A person spends more on coffee at a drive through in a day than this press costs. And, this coffees flavor and aroma is unmatched by any of them on their best day. You have nothing to lose and the best cup of coffee you've had in your life to gain! 5I am so disappointed. How in the world did it get so ...Oh noooo. It has to go back. It came today, I washed it by hand, and the top fell off. It is not a screw on, probably welded on (poorly). I am so disappointed. How in the world did it get so many 5 stars. 1Don't spend more but don't spend less. Very much worth it.I wanted a French press because I drink different kinds of coffees in phases and this is my kick right now. The one at my job that we use on the daily is a $100 Frieling and, tbh, I really don't see much of a difference between the two. The Frieling has a little more force when I push the handle down but as far as filtering, keeping my coffee hot, and taste- no difference. Actually, this has a slight indent in the lid that keeps heat in and turning makes pouring easier so it wins there for me.We've had it for over a month, use it about five times a week, and it has held up to me and a 16 year old boy- and we all know teenagers are careful with nothing. If you want a French press get it. Don't bother with a glass one, your coffee won't stay hot and it will break easily. 5BEST PURCHASE ON AMAZON I'VE EVER MADEMy purchase of this stainless steel french press was the best purchase that I have ever made on Amazon. Not only is the product amazing, but the customer service of the manufacturing company is beyond comparison.Looking first at the product, it's super durable, easy to clean, and makes the best coffee that I've ever had. I think my favorite part is that it keeps my coffee nice and hot until I want to pour myself a cup or two.As I mentioned, it's really easy to clean, and that's because the parts are easily unscrewed from each other. Unfortunately, because of this I lost a little piece of it that helps the filter stay positioned before plunging it down to filter the coffee. Since I live with a bunch of pig roommates, I knew that that piece was gone for good in the mess. After propping the plunger up with various items while I was waiting for my the coffee to sit, I knew I needed to contact the company about getting a replacement piece since I loved my french press so much.As soon as I was thinking of this, the company seemingly read my mind and sent me an email asking how I liked the product and if I needed any replacement parts. After telling them about my missing piece, they told me that they didn't have a replacement right now, but were able to send me a whole new French Press for FREE!I can't say enough about the quality of this item, and the amazing customer service of the company. BUY this product, and you will not be disappointed! 5Don't be fooled by all the 5 star reviewsProducts like this are frustrating b/c of all the 5 star reviews. Cheaply made, the screen was coming apart right out of the box, the lid doesn't seal (as mentioned in other negative reviews), stainless steel is magnetic, no way it keeps coffee hot for any appreciable amount of time. Mine was cold by the time i got out of the shower (~20 mins after making it)... all-in-all really cheaply made and disappointing. Save your money on a name-brand. 1Great customer serviceBeautiful, shiny, sturdy, great customer service. The sleeve on the filter assembly is used to keep the filters at the bottom of pot.I had the pot for close to a year and the sleeve came off the filter assembly stick. I called Secura, they emailed me requesting a picture of the filter assembly and then they mailed me a new pot. Fast efficient and painless. Done during Thanksgiving weekend - great customer service.Although the filter assembly broke, I still think that the painless resolution to this problem deserves to be noted and I still belie that the product is well-made. 5
