Perfect fitLove the Silpat. The 8 x 11 apx. fits perfectly in the Nordic ware quarter sheet.. and then all fits perfectly in Breville countertop convection oven.
5but I am disappointed not only with the melted silpatI bought new baking pans when I ordered my Silpat. My first use, I roasted some veggies at 350 and the Silpat melted onto the pan. My new pan and the mat are both ruined. The veggies didn't stick to the silpat, but I am disappointed not only with the melted silpat, but now my new baking pan is ruined.
1This didn't seem like real SilpatI don't know what happened with this but the first time I used it, it was in the oven for maybe 15 min at 350 when my whole kitchen filled with smoke. It had melted in the oven leaving a white powder covering the entire inside of the oven and a pile of what looks like ash where it melted. I've had Sillats before and never had anything like this so I'm not sure if this is a knock off or what but my oven is a disaster and then smoke/ash got into the fan unit and I'm not sure what to do. Argh!!
1Melted onto baking pan at 350 degreesI used it at 350 degrees to bake pastries, and it melted onto my baking pan. (see photo for residue on pan.) Now I have a ruined baking pan and a melty silicone sheet. :-(
1Buyer be warned! Likely not authentic Silpat and/or defective!Read these reviews before purchasing! I have had a similar experience to a few others on here who have used their Silpat+aluminum pan for the first use at a low temperature and experienced Silpat melting. I used my 7-7/8" x 10-7/8" Silpat with a Nordic Ware 1/4 sheet aluminum pan (both brand new) at 350 F for 30 minutes to heat up some eggs in a hole, and discovered when I took the pan out that the Silpat had melted onto the pan. I'm very disappointed; needless-to-say I'm returning both. It is possible that the Silpat sold here are 1) old, 2) stored in inappropriate conditions that ruin their material properties, or 3) cheap knock-offs. While I've had many great experiences shopping with Amazon, this was not one. Very, very disappointed.
1Not happy!I just used it for the first time yesterday for my Christmas cookies with an oven temp of only 300 degrees and part of the silicone melted onto my brand new cookie sheet! Not happy!
1Not authentic- FAKEThis product is not authentic or made by Demarle as advertised. The product I received was wrapped in brown packing paper and has a knock off website listed on it. "Bakedeco.com"- see photo. I'm returning. BUYER BEWARE.
1Not authenticI can only imagine the rave reviews are from individuals who do not currently own an authentic Silpat baking mat. Curious about the low cost, I ordered this to compare to the one I already owned and purchased from Sur La Table. I could tell even before taking it out of the packaging something was not quite right. These types of baking mats are never meant to be folded in half, which this one was. There was no care taken in shipping it either rolled or flat, as that s how they re meant to be stored. Once in my hand, it felt more like a light plastic versus the durable silicone of a Silpat. The entire construction appeared to simply be a cheapened replica. I cannot speak to its efficacy as I returned it immediately, so it could still very well be a perfectly useful baking mat. For those looking for an authentic Silpat however, I would encourage you to purchase from a trusted retailer. Bed Bath & Beyond, Sur La Table & Williams and Sonoma all carry them.
1Another COUNTERFEIT!!!!!Huge thanks to the reviewer who warned about counterfeits. I gave the cheaper price a shot and got what I paid for. Now it is going back........ If I doesn't cost around $25 it is almost certainly a knock off counterfeit.
1THIS IS A FAKE PRODUCTVery disappointing. THIS IS A FAKE PRODUCT not the real Silpat made in France (label written in French contains misspelled and odd words). I compared this product with my original Silpat bought several years ago at Sur La Table and there are subtle clues that evidence this is a fake. Amazon should do a better job checking its sources.
