My FAVORITE Pens!I've been a fan of the Straedtler brand for a few years now. I own the fiber tip markers and have for almost 11 years now (they seriously never dry out, crazy!) but wanted a finer point set for some of my more detailed adult coloring books. These are perfect! I only saw minimal bleeding with the darker shades and though they're not ideal for coloring in larger areas, it's not impossible ;-) My ONLY complaint is the same with other brands, you can't trust the cap color to match the actual ink color. I made a color key for myself so I wouldn't forget what the colors looked like! I highly recommend doing the same. Two in particular were REALLY off. One looks like it would be a pastel green but is more of a light green. The second looks like it should be a lovely, light shade of purple but is like a dark purple wine color. All in all though definitely my favorite :-) Bright, bold colors, very comfortable and a great value for how long they last! 5I love the pens and the color variety but I wish ...I love the pens and the color variety but I wish the pens had names or something to help make a color chart. I ended up sorting them into a rainbow and labeling each pen with a number. 4Beautiful Shades - Good valueThese are good markers. I bought them for an adult coloring book - unfortunately, a couple of the colors are quite similar looking and some are so dark that it's hard to see what I've colored over. I just bought some colored pencils so I could creat different shades. I like the markers because the color really pops on the page, and the tips are fine enough to get into small spaces (unfortunately, the fineness of the tips leads to lines in the color when you're coloring larger areas). They do not bleed through the page (which isn't think like card stock, but it isn't thin like regular paper either). I am pleased with these - and given the price, I would reorder again - maybe more colors next time. (I just can't bring myself to pay much more for markers... Since I'm only coloring for pleasure and enjoyment). If you buy these for what I used them for, you won't be disappointed. 4Great quality, great variety, and a great value!Got these in two days, as promised! First impression: the box holding the pens is much sturdier than I expected. Most cardboard pen/pencil packages can stand maybe six or seven openings/closings before they start to fall apart...but this box looks like it will last quite a bit longer than that! That might seem like a trivial thing, but I prefer not to buy separate holders for my art supplies, and just use what they came in as long as possible, so this one is already making a good impression on me. I immediately opened them and did my usual color-checking process: I filled in a little 1"x1" square with each color, with light coloring on the left of the square moving to thick/dark on the right side. I always refer back to the paper so I can tell exactly what each color will look like. The pens were all easy to color with, they move smoothly across the paper, the thickness didn't wax or wane, and only three of them had slight imperfections on their tips that made the coloring more uneven, but I think a quick trim of the tip will correct that. After coloring in the color-reference blocks, I moved onto a coloring book to test them in large and very small spaces. The large spaces were a little difficult for me, as I'm not used to having to maintain the exact same amount of pressure from one part of the space to another...this caused some streaks, and some darker spots and some lighter spots. I assume this is a technique issue, and will be resolved once I get some more practice. The small spaces were awesome, though. I was afraid some of the mandala spaces I'm coloring in would be too small for the color to show up, but these high-impact pens worked great! It's hard to NOT see the color in those small spaces! The major reason I bought this set is because of the variety of colors - I'm not great at blending or creating new colors, so I needed a set that would include various colors and shades and tints and whatnot. This set has a bunch of reds, blues, and greens, and a few purples, yellows, a couple oranges, and six highlighter-esque colors. One or two of them were a bit dry, but they worked better after a few moments of coloring. All in all, I am incredibly pleased with this product! Great quality, great variety, and a great value! 51 out of 4 chance you might get defective set...I read through the reviews before buying this set of markers and I saw that quite a few people have the same problem where they were finding that some of the markers were dried out to the point that the ink was so light and faded that it looked streaky on paper. Also the tips of the markers were so dry that they had hardened and would scratch through the paper even when I wasn't pressing down with barely any pressure. Now while reading through the reviews I noticed that a whole 75% of them were positive reviews stateing that the ink was "rich" and of "good quality" and that alot of people were using them for coloring intricate designs which is what I wanted to use them for. Some of them were indeed rich and the ink was flowing and actually was quality ink so I'm assuming that when ordering these pens online where you aren't able to test them out beforehand is baisicaly just luck of the draw as to if you're going to get a set with all the pens working properly... I'm going to attempt to return these once and ask that the set that I get in exchange for this one is checked before it is sent to me to assure that each pen is working correctly. If the set I get in exchange for this one also has dried out pens then I will be trying out a different brand.- Alexi D. 2Bottom line, get these markers as soon as you get the chance!Got the 20 Pack from my local crafts store and on the first day I knew I had to get the whole set! They were way to over priced at the store so I decided to order the 36 pack on Amazon, which is a steal of a deal! I love these markers so much that I went out of my way to write with them, just to take picture to post. Best markers on the market currently, and that's coming from someone whom has an extreme BHPlanner addiction. Meaning, I'm always in search for new/off brand markers and pens. These are the most vibrant and colorful markers and do not bleed through the pages! (Unless intensely used in the same spot). They're not runny, and don't dry out! Bottom line, get these markers as soon as you get the chance! 5Staedtler v StabiloAt first, I ordered the Staedtler pens but after testing them out, I noticed some big problems color-wise. I returned them and ordered Stabilo instead. If you're debating between these two, choose Stabilo. I use them with my adult coloring books; mainly Johanna Basford's Enchanted Forest. When I used the Staedtler pens, I noticed that the colors did not make sense. Most of them are dark. There is no real red (just an orange-red), no purple (just a weird dark mauve), no turqoise, no true light brown, and two of the blues are exactly the same. With the Stabilo, there are two purples (light and dark), a true red, a peach, a turquoise blue, a light brown, and two shades of gray.Pros:- Slightly sturdier feeling than Stabilo (like the shape better)- Don't bleed as much as Stabilo- Very fine tip, great for adult coloring booksCons:- Color of cap is nowhere near the actual marker color- Lack of useful colors!! (My deciding factor in returning them)- More expensive than StabiloI've included some pictures. The squares are Staedtler pens and the circles are Stabilo pens. (I used the same pink twice by accident in the Stabilo set) 3I took the plunge, and am glad I did!!!After an insane amount of research and reviews I finally decided on the staedtler ink pens. I won't list all the other options I considered because you might have your own. But in various YouTube comparison videos and other Amazon reviews, the triplus fine liners kept coming up at the top of the lists. They are the most expensive, but they are not cheap. Are they worth it? By god yes!!!Plenty of other folks have listed a lot better technical reviews, so please read them. I love detail work- but I was honestly unsure if the .3 would be too small. Instead they are perfect (for my needs)!!! I will show a couple of works in progress so you can decide for yourself, but if you are crazy about the details and will happily spend several hours hunched over a table with your face 6 inches from the paper, these should be a no-brainer!!!Both pictures are from Grimms Adult Fairy Tale book, which has to be far and away the best detail oriented coloring book I have found! The large picture shows the overall scene, and the closeup should give you an idea of just how small and precise the fine liners are.My ONLY gripe would be the lack of numbers or names on the ink. But I have found the colors are pretty close to how the ink comes out, and just keep a little scribble page handy to always test before you start using them. Hope this helps someone else out there!! 5Five StarsBeautiful colors!! Love love love!!! 5I'm in love. Beautiful colours. High quality pens.I am completely in love with these pens. The colours are all beautiful.I highly recommend making a "cheat sheet", though - a lot of the caps are pretty close to the colours, but not all. Some are very different.I've attached two photos - the raw cell phone image (which is terrible quality, sorry), and the one I tried to fix to look more like real life. That's a white legal pad, and yes, I know it doesn't look it. Sorry. (Also, ignore the stupid numbers. I had set the box aside and misremembered there being 32, so I decided to number them in hexidecimal.... and then... there's 36. Yes, I'm dorky. Leave me alone. lol)As others have noted, the box is sturdy; I've chosen to use a labelmaker and label all of mine to match the cheat sheet I made just so I don't accidentally get them out of order and so I know what colour they really work as.They are very fine point - 0.3mm, which is nice. It means colouring large spaces will take longer, but I'm probably going to use them more for writing anyway. They're wonderful for writing.I'm glad I spent the money on these. 5
