Soft, plush and a good value..It figures - my old electric blanket would quit just as the cold weather kicks in and prices on new blankets rise. But I needed something quickly and this was a decent price.This Sunbeam blanket is very plush and soft. It does not seem to get as hot as my previous blanket - a common observation of newer blankets and likely a safety feature. And as others have noted, the controller is not the one pictured. I wasn't surprised based on other reviews and it doesn't really make a difference to me. But it is something to be aware of.I do like the feel of this blanket and it has a range of heat settings and auto-off feature.It has a luxurious feel and is a good value. 4Sunbeam is a terrible company to do business with!Amazon delivered the product quickly -- as expected and appreciated. However the blanket only lasted 2 months before it quit working. That 2 months passed the time for returns to Amazon, so I had to deal with Sunbeam. The blanket has a 5-year warranty, so repairs and replacements are covered. HOWEVER, Sunbeam's customer service is HORRIBLE! I first tried calling them. The phone system required me to talk to an automated system through several questions. In the middle of the questions, their phone system hung up on me. This happened several times. Then I called back and said "REPRESENTATIVE" to the automated service, and it sent me to talk with someone. HOWEVER, what I got was NOT a representative but a recording telling me that they were very busy and couldn't take my call, "please call back later." I thought this might be a fluke, so I tried the same thing again and got the same message EVERY TIME. Then I tried live chat. The first agent I got asked me to go to the blanket and get a series of numbers and symbols to give him. I told him it would take a few minutes, he said OK. When I returned to the chat, he had ended the chat! So I reconnected to Chat and got a different agent. I had to fill out all the info again, etc. He said "How can I help you?" and then never returned to the chat!!! I tried again and got an agent that remained on the chat -- thank you! -- but then informed me that I had to pay for shipping my blanket to them and then wait 3-4 weeks to get a replacement. Presumably I will get a new blanket, but I have spent over 2 hours of my time, will pay for shipping, and then won't get the blanket till the weather is too warm for using it. Not to mention the fact that I don't even know if the new one will work properly. I will NEVER buy another Sunbeam product. 1Horrible Experience from a Loyal CustomerI purchased this in Jan of 2016. We used it from Jan to mid April. The blanket worked great for about a month, and then gradually the blanket lost heat, but still warmed sufficiently to keep us comfortable. In April, I packed it back up in the original packaging, and stored it away for the summer. We unpacked it again in mid October and found that the blanket did not warm up properly at all. The blanket would heat up, but only at the feet. After about a week, the blanket quit working completely.As a kid, I had a sunbeam electric blanket that was a beast. That thing worked for years. I was and always have been a loyal Sunbeam customer, so it is kind of heartbreaking for me to leave this review, but it needs to be said. This is the worst electric blanket I have ever purchased. The blanket was costly, too costly when considering that we only got roughly one good month out of out. I would not recommend this blanket to anyone. 1Exceeds expectationsSeveral years ago, electric blankets stopped feeling anything but luke-warm. I was informed by several sources that a person had to get a low-voltage blanket to get the hot feeling I wanted. So I have been getting expensive low-voltage blankets that inevitably last less than two years. I was tired of throwing these blankets and my money away, so I tried this Sunbeam and it is fantastic. Really gets warm and is much lighter weight than what I had been getting. I really like the soft micro-fiber as well. Totally satisfied. 5Physical burnsBought this as a Christmas gift for my son, back in Nov. so my return window has closed. But this blanket has left physical burn marks on my son. He woke up with blisters on his feet and ankles. Of course he no longer uses it. Besides his burns, I don't want it to burn my house down. We have to replace them every year because they do tend to burn out fast but as long as they keep us warm through winter, we don't mind. Unfortunately we must have gotten a dud this year. Within the first month of usage the blanket was barely warm even at the highest setting. Now in February when we need it the most the sheets are freezing when we get in bed and there is no discernible warmth coming from the blanket. What a disappointment. 1Dont buyThis didnt even last a month. Please do not buy this. Save your money. Nice and soft, wires didnt bother me like it did some, but it doesn't heat any more. The last electric blanket we bought was from Hammacher Schlemmer (extremely EXPENSIVE!!), found what I believe to be the exact same blanket on sale here on Amazon.com.....don't be fooled by the "Lifetime Guarantee"...still had to BUY new controllers every year because ONE of the two ceased to work (very reliable malfunction!).....finally threw this total waste of money away! THIS SUNBEAM MICRO PLUSH HEATED BLANKET is amazing! Light weight, reliable, heats quickly and comfortably -- both my husband and myself LOVE this wonderful blanket. We were afraid to purchase a blanket after the Hammacher Schlemmer debacle, but desperately needed a dependable electric blanket because we live in the inland Pacific Northwest where we have very long, cold and snowy winters. I carefully read all the reviews for almost every electric blanket being sold on Amazon.com, and decided this was the best choice, and it most definitely proved to be a 5 star choice. Buy with confidence. 5
